The Hair Trend NYFW is Convincing Us to Recreate

Believe it or not, a post-pool mane is officially on the radar for spring 2017. Thanks to the glam squads backstage at Jill Stewart's Spring 2017 show, we're pinning yet another hairstyle to our Pinterest boards. To re-create the look for ourselves, we picked legendary hair stylist Didier Malige's brain on exactly how to replicate the look. Spoiler: It's almost too easy. Read ahead for the inside scoop and the exact products being used backstage!

The scoop: “It’s a bit like she’s been swimming and then let her hair dry,” Malige said. “We like her to be not wet, but not crispy dry.” This "coming-out-of-the-water" look is meant to add texture and individuality to a feminine and elegant collection of cotton candy-esque pastels.

The strategy: There isn’t one! Malige said it’s better not to think too much about it when you’re applying products. There’s no particular order, but rather every product has its unique trait to contribute to the overall post-pool look.

Who can re-create this look: Anyone! We saw just about every hair type backstage. Although some products work differently than others, it doesn't matter if the natural hair is tousled and curly or sleek and straight. The goal is just to relax the natural hair you're born with.
