If You Buy One New Product This Month, Make Sure It's This
"It's like a love potion—for your face."
I'll admit it: I'm like a TSA agent when it comes to the intense level of screening I put skincare products through these days. After several years of working in the beauty biz and testing new products just about every night, I've become pretty selective about the products I will actually slather on my face. One might even say, I've gone from being a serial skincare user to a more monogamous and responsible one—partly because I've acquired a few favorites over the years, and partly because I've put my skin through the ringer far too much. Naturally, when I do manage to find a product that I'm ready to induct into my daily routine, I want to go all Tom Cruise-hopping-on-Oprah's-couch and share it with my fellow Influensters. And after a week using Farmacy's new Honeymoon Glow, I'm ready for my Cruise moment.
Just as Influensters have been putting the Honeymoon Glow to the test in one of our latest VoxBox campaigns, I've been putting the night serum through my own rigorous testing process. Now, it should be noted that I already consider myself a Farmacy fan. (I've actually been to founder Mark Veeder's upstate New York home to chat about all things Farmacy and the brand's secret ingredient, Echinacea GreenEnvy!) So, I'll admit I had high hopes for this serum. But, it only took one use for me to want to get serious with this serum.
The first thing that drew me to this product was clearly the name: a honeymoon glow in a bottle? I'm quite the single lady, so honeymoons are far from my mind, but I wouldn't mind getting the same glowing, I'm-in-love skin as Tom Cruise in 2005—or you know, my girlfriends' now. Farmacy takes on that fresh-faced lewk via a cocktail of potent ingredients that I'm likening to a love potion—for your face. One use and you're in love.
First up, there's the 14 percent blend of chemical exfoliants that completely tone and resurface skin: There are AHAs via lactic, glycolic, citric, and fruit acids and BHAs from salicylic acid. I tend to have true combination skin, so I'm constantly struggling to find products that won't dry me out but will still take care of my shine, adult acne bumps, and the constellation of blackheads on my nose. And this powerful pairing of AHAs and BHAs, as well as flower acids from hibiscus flowers, are fantastic for tacking pore size and reducing sebum, balancing out hyperpigmentation and redness, and promoting skin cell turnover.
In the past, chemical exfoliators have been too intense for me, but I found two hearty pumps of this serum to be just the right amount of potent and gentle on my skin. I like to think it's the additional work of moisture-retaining hyaluronic acid, as well as the brand's key Echinacea GreenEnvy that keeps that exfoliated skin conditioned and free of irritation or peeling. Although there is a touch of tingling on skin after application—a usual red flag for me that I'll be all red and blotchy the next day—I encountered zero redness or agitation.
I've been putting the Honeymoon Glow to the test for a little over a week now (that's about four to five uses for me—the recommended usage is two to three a week depending on your skin), and the tiny bumps on my forehead and chin are completely gone. And, my nose that's usually a blackhead block party? It's more like a house party now—small and manageable. But, the biggest takeaway for me has been how even my skin's tone has been. The redness in my cheeks has gone down, and the congested red marks from days of blemishes past are totally smooth and even now.
I'm still single, but I'm pretty sure if you look at my skin right now, I just might fool you into thinking I've got a special someone. And I guess I do—if you count my new favorite night serum as bae.
