Fall Hair: The Wrapped Pony
Let’s be real: the ponytail is a classic for any time of the year. But as the carefree summer days dwindle, it’s time to sharpen your look. Rocking a fashion-forward hairstyle this fall is easier than you’d think. Try wrapping your ponytail for a look that’s effortless yet chic!
Sleek vs. Messy Wrapped Pony
How you decide to make your wrapped pony sleek or messy can impact the mood of your entire look. Heading out to a fancy dinner? The sleeker style is perfect for an elegant evening out on the town. Trying for a more ragged and edgy look? Rock the messy pony!
I’m in love with this Wrapped Hair Tutorial. It’s for a sleek style, but can easily be adjusted to rock a messy and edgy wrapped pony. In this tutorial, I’ve added some of my own steps if you decided to go the messy route.
Pull your hair back into a sleek ponytail and secure it with an elastic band like a Scunci No Slip Grip Hair Tie.
Take a piece from the bottom of the pony and curl it with a small ¾”- to 1” curling iron such as the Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron. The smaller the barrel, the tighter the curl, which will come in handy when it’s time to wrap.
If you’re going for a messier look, then I recommend using a teasing comb or brush like the Spornette Little Wonder Teasing Brush to really get that maximum volume.
Spray the curl with hairspray (we recommend a strong hold spray like Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray) and wrap it around the base of the pony. Tuck the tail under the wrapped portion or secure it under the pony with a bobby pin.
Spray the wrapped portion one last time to ensure staying power and top off with Pure Shine Polishing Serum for a sleek look.
Going for a more ragged, beachy look? Texturize with Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray to add the thickness, volume, and hold that’s perfect for the messy pony.
Which would you choose: sleek or messy? How would you wear your wrapped pony?
