Share Tweet Pin

It takes some serious dedication to completely finish a beauty product. Whether you used it up because it's just that good or you were determined to get your money's worth—or both—there's great satisfaction that comes with scraping the bottom of the bottle or squeezing the last drop out of the tube. We can relate! That's why we're sharing with you the products we finished each month in a new series we're calling Empties. Here you'll get the honest low down—the good and the bad—about the beauty products all of our Influenster editors have used to the very last drop.

shiseido eudermine revitalizing essence

What it is: Shiseido Eudermine Revitalizing Essence, $56 at Sephora

What it does: Provides a deeply moisturizing boost for my parched skin.

Why I bought it: I've been fascinated by Asian skincare and beauty for years now. I've tried sheet masks, preciously packaged and delightfully named lotions, and much more, but I had yet to dive into the somewhat confusing pool of essences. I'll be honest, the packaging of this Shiseido (a Japanese brand) essence is 50 percent of the reason I purchased it. I mean, just look at that stunning red glass bottle standing out so alluringly in a sea of plastic tubs and tubes. Plus, I love Shiseido products and trust the brand to deliver.

Pros: I actually didn't notice the strongest benefit of this essence until it ran out. Unbeknownst to me, it was this ultra-moisturizing formula that had been keeping my skin consistently hydrated and calm for weeks. A few days after I emptied the bottle, I noticed I looked less glowy and felt drier. It had been keeping my skin happy and I missed it once it was gone. The product itself is a joy to apply—it's cooling, goes on like liquid silk, and has a light, lovely scent. Plus, again, just look at that packaging.

Cons: Just as much as I love the packaging, it can also be a little stressful to have that glass bottle balancing on my counter. I've had more than a few panicked moments when I have fumbled and almost dropped the bottle.

Will I buy it again: I'm trying another essence this month just out of curiosity, but I already miss using this formula. I imagine it'll be back in my shelf any time now.

H2O+ plus sea salt body scrub

What it is: H2O+ Sea Salt Body Scrub, $18 at h2oplus.com

What it does: Washes away dead skin cells and impurities.

Why I bought it: I'm a sucker for a body scrub. I use a scrub almost every time I hop in the shower. I find it's a nice way to relax after a long run or a busy day at work. I like many products from the H2O+ brand, and I thought this beautifully packaged scrub with its almond oil and sea salts was definitely worth a try!

Pros: This particular formula was very soothing to me. I absolutely loved the addition of almond oil as it left my skin post-buffing soft and smooth. The exfoliants were gentle and effective—not at all harsh or scratchy. And don't even get me started on the scent. When they say oceanside fragrance, they mean oceanside. With each use, my shower filled up with the aroma of a breezy beach.

Cons: I seemed to run out of this scrub a lot faster than my other scrubs! I'm not sure if I was over-zealous with my application or if the formula required more product usage per area, but this scrub only seemed to last me a few weeks, which I found a tad disappointing since I liked the product so much.

Will I buy it again: I'm honestly not someone who is ever really married to a body scrub. I find a lot of joy out of testing many different ones. Although I really enjoyed the scent and feel of this particular scrub, my fickle skincare ways will most likely have me buying another!

What it is: Nu Skin Nu Colour Lip gloss, $17 at nuskin.com

What it does: Lip plumper and gloss

Why I bought it: Nu Skin Nu Colour is really cool. It's a lip plumper and a gloss. I bought it because I'd love to have pouty lips. My pout is unimpressive.

Pros: As soon as you apply it your lips begin to tingle and they instantly look fuller!

Cons: The only con is that the plump doesn't last very long. You have to reapply frequently.

Will I buy it again: I've already re-ordered it!

nars creamy concealer

What it is: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, $12 at Sephora

What it does: Covers and conceals

Why I bought it:  I was in the market for a new concealer and I wanted to give NARS a try!

Pros:  I bought this as a concealer, but this shade was a tad too dark for my skin tone, so I turned it into a contour tool and it worked perfectly! It's creamy, lightweight, and blends nicely.

Cons: Only con is I bought it in the wrong shade!

Will I buy it again: Definitely—only this time in the right shade.

buxom lip cream in rose julep

What it is: Buxom Lip Cream in Rose Julep, $20 at Sephora

What it does: Makes lips plump, glossy, and hydrated

Why I bought it: Funny story, I was on my way to meet someone for dinner, and I desperately needed color on my lips. I ran into Sephora and one of the sales girls recommended this shade of Buxom. It was the best last-minute beauty buy I’ve ever made!

Pros: Whether I wear it alone, or over a brighter lipstick, it never fails to make my lips look extra plump and hydrated.

Cons: I'm a huge fan of this gloss, but I will say, it tingles a for a while after you put it on.

Will I buy it again: Absolutely! I’m a die-hard Buxom fan at this point.

kat von d tattoo liner

What it is: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, $20 at Sephora

What it does: Helps you to create a killer cat eye

Why I bought it: I've tried my fair share of eyeliners from pencil to gel to liquid, and even with primer they always tend to slide off my eyelids by the end of the day. I'd heard good reviews about the Kat Von D Tattoo liner from a friend, so I figured I would try it out at Sephora. Not only did the liner glide on super smoothly, but it also dried instantly and didn't budge when I tried to rub it off.

Pros: This liner has the blackest formula I've ever tried, and the color payoff is amazing. I've used so many liners that feel transparent on my lids, but this one is completely opaque. Plus, the tapered brush tip helps create a sharp cat eye, which is something I have always struggled with when using felt-tip liner pens.

Cons: Since it does dry so quickly on contact, it's hard to go back and fix mess-ups before it dries. You have to either commit to the wing shape you've made for the day or commit to redoing the line.

Will I buy it again: I'm sure I'll try out different eyeliners, but this will definitely be my go-to.
