Long gone are the days when you used to roll on body glitter like it was your job. Instead, the glitter of today is typically reserved for glistening highlighters, the occasional glitter lid, some shimmer on the lips, or a glitter face mask if you like the look of glitz but don't want to commit. But dare we say that you just might soon be reconsidering body glitter for times outside of Halloween? We spotted a new launch from e.l.f. cosmetics that has us thinking maybe our middle school self was onto something with all that glitter.
The new Stardust Glitters ($4) are a collection of finely milled loose glitter to make your shimmering fantasies a reality. So far the new glitters come in four shades that are surprisingly wearable. There's Bronze Comet for a metallic chocolate, pearly Milkyway, electric Teal Eclipse, and subtle Lunar Lilac. Although you might think glitter is for those go-big-or-go-home nights, with colors like these, they're really proving to be more versatile.
And that's not all. The uses for these glitters are a bit more sophisticated than just rubbing it all over your neck and hoping for the best—a.k.a. our strategy back in 8th grade. You can spread this shimmer on your face (think a soft addition to your fave prismatic highlighter), across your body (imagine a dusting on the collarbone), and even on your hair (that center part isn't so boring anymore, eh?). See what we mean below!
To use, e.l.f. suggests swiping on their Glitter Primer to the portion of skin you want to shine (avoid the eyes, FYI) and use an applicator (they make a special Silicone Glitter Applicator) into the glitter pot and apply. And the best part, each glitter pot is only $4! We think we can take a chance to bring body glitter back for $4.
