Our skincare experts in the Influenster community are already well-versed in masking world. In fact, many of you are likely already putting some of the latest masking trends to the tes—take, for example, the modeling rubber mask trend. We don't have to tell you the mix-it-yourself mask is a fun and potent way to saturate your skin with powerful active ingredients. But although rubber masks might be old news to you by now, we guarantee you've never seen anything quite like these masks.
Starting next month, Dr.Jart+ is launching a true DIY version of their popular rubber sheet masks. The new Shake & Shot Shaking Rubber Mask collection is a series of four skincare cocktails that look more like at-home science kits than your standard beauty treatments. Naturally, the first thing you notice about this new launch is the packaging. The serum and vitamin mixture is housed in a milkshake-esque container that has everything you need to play mad scientist and whip up your perfectly measured concoction.
But as adorable as the baby face and milkshake packaging is (and it really is adorable), it's what's inside each Shake & Shot mix that's important. In each kit, you get a liquid serum ampoule and an active vitamin dosage that is specific to your desired skin concern. (There are masks for hydration, soothing, brightening, and firming.) Once the ingredients are mixed together à la AP chem, you give them a good shake to activate the product and whip it into the gel-cream texture that's signature of a K-beauty rubber mask.
Then you apply the gel to your face with the included straw, err spatula, so that it covers the skin like a normal sheet mask. The gel then dries down for about 20 minutes to become a rubberized sheet mask. Peel it off and voilà—you've just mixed your own mask. Now, if you're wondering why this mask would be any more potent than your standard sheet mask. Well, here's the deal. The gel formula of a rubber mask allows for the skin-loving active ingredients to seep into skin a lot more efficiently and effectively than a paper sheet mask. But most importantly, it looks super cool.
Like we said, the new Shake & Shot masks piggyback off of Dr. Jart's previous venture into rubber mask territory, so that means you can rely on the same benefits of your old faves just in a new DIY form. There's the Hydro with vitamin B5 extract and baobob tree leaf extract to give skin a gulp of water. There's Soothing with its vitamin-rich guava leaf extract, aloe vera extract, and barrier strengthening guaiazulene. There's also Brightening, which boasts vitamin C, grapefruit extract, and antioxidant-rich sea buckthorn fruit extract. Lastly, there's Firming that's enriched with retinol, sage leaf extract, and witch hazel extract to tighten and tone.
Ready to get your mask on, skincare addicts? These new perfect-dose mixtures hit Sephora and Sephora.com beginning February. And here's the best part, they're only $12! Sure, they might be a little bit more than your standard milkshake. But we have a feeling these shakes are a bit better for your skin. And a whole lot more photogenic.
