Do You Really Know the Difference Between Deodorant and Antiperspirant?
We’re here to help!
Using deodorant is a daily ritual for most, but how much do you really know about what you’re putting on your underarms? Did you know there is a notable difference between deodorants and antiperspirants? We’ve partnered with Dove to set the facts straight so you can make the right personal hygiene choice for your body.
The Facts: Deodorant vs. Antiperspirant
Deodorants and antiperspirants have similar jobs, but it's important to know the differences! Mainly, antiperspirants block sweat altogether, while deodorants control odor not sweat. Now, as you can imagine, many ingredients have been added to antiperspirants to help them keep you smelling fresh. And many deodorants also contain ingredients to combat sweat from activity too. Ultimately, they have many similarities, but it’s important to note where their ingredients differ!
Often times, antiperspirants contain aluminum-based compounds to keep your armpits dry—meaning, they offer complete wetness protection by blocking the flow of sweat from your glands.
Deodorants, on the other hand, don’t use aluminum to get the job done. They rely on other ingredients, like antibacterials and fragrances, to help you feel fresh throughout the day.
