Do You Have Old Video Game Boxes and Manuals Worth $$$?
Vindication for the box-savers
We told you about the vintage Super Mario Bros. game that sold for $114k at auction, but did you know certain video game boxes and manuals are worth money too? It might be time to scour basements and attics and see if you have any of these titles laying around. By analyzing thousands of eBay listings of empty video games and console boxes, Casino put together a report identifying and ranking the most valuable video game boxes, manuals, and console boxes.
Not surprisingly, Nintendo leads the way with 4 of the top 5 most expensive game boxes coming from the legacy maker. Nintendo 64’s Clay Fighter: Sculptors Cut has the most expensive video game box and manual, costing a staggering $1,713 and $614 respectively.
Sony’s Playstation 5 (Disc Version) has the world’s most expensive console box and manual costing $392 and $245 respectively. Sony’s Playstation 3 and 5 along with the Xbox Series X were the only consoles to have manuals valued over $100.
Video game manuals can be just as valuable with the report finding 16 manuals valued at more than $100 with the two most expensive being over $200 (Clay Fighter: Sculptors Cut and Stunt Racer 64). Much like their video game boxes, Nintendo also holds some of the most expensive video game manuals, having 4 of the 5 most expensive manuals - 3 of which being for the Nintendo 64.
