Think nail art is something only reserved for the salon? Think again. With the right tools and some great tips, you can create an Insta-worthy mani in no time. We already told you how to master the on-trend grid manicure, and now we're spicing things up with a bold color-blocked look. To help you master this look, we teamed up with Formula X to create a playful nail design using two bright shades from The Colors collection, a range of high-performance nail colors infused with their signature ShineXcel™—a luminescent ingredient that enhances your mani's color and shine!

And thanks to our friends at PRIV—an on-demand beauty app that brings nail artists, hairstylists, and even masseuses to your door—nail pro Cynthia Casado came to our office to help us create an Instagram-worthy DIY block nail design. Get the full steps, plus Cynthia's expert tips, to create the look yourself!

Products needed:

Nail file and buffer | Base coat | Top coat | Detailing brush | Formula X The Colors in Dainty | Formula X The Colors in TGIF

1. Prep your tips by filing and buffing your nails to the desired shape and length. Pro tip: To make your manicure last longer, wipe nails with alcohol before applying a base coat.

2. Alternating nails, apply two coats of Dainty to create a subtle ivory white base and two coats of TGIF to add a pop of color.

3. Dip your detailing brush into TGIF. On the white nails only, draw a half-moon design at the base of each nail. Pro tip: To easily create a half-moon design, draw a "C" shape (the open end facing the base of the nail) and fill it in with polish. Next, to create the French tip, simply drag your brush across the tip of the nail.

Finish with your favorite top coat and hit the town! This manicure deserves some spotlight!
