COVERGIRL is giving us yet another reason to cheer. You might remember that 2018 kicked off a year full of new launches, new COVERGIRL faces, and even a new slogan: "I Am What I Make Up." But, the drugstore beauty brand isn't stopping there. They're continuing full steam ahead with their mission of embracing beauty in all forms. And the latest model they've tapped to be the face of their TruBlend foundation ($6.99, Amazon) add couldn't be a more perfect fit to do just that.
Model Amy Deanna stars in a new ad by CG showing how she uses the TruBlend foundation as a way to express herself and play up her skin's unique tones. Amy, who is the first model with Vitiligo in a COVERGIRL campaign, talks about how she actually uses two shades of foundation to enhance her skin's natural tones, as opposed to using makeup to hide her natural complexion.
"Vitiligo awareness is something that is very important to me," Amy says of her new role as the face of the TruBlend foundation. "Being given a platform to do so means so much. At the end of the day I am just like everyone else, I just happen to have spots. It’s a part of my identity, but it doesn’t define who I am. For there to be so many of us and so little representation, it’s truly disheartening. I work with COVERGIRL; I’m a black woman; I have vitiligo. That is empowering.”
And we couldn't agree more with this powerful message from both Amy and COVERGIRL. See the entire clip above to hear Amy in her own words!
