Celebuzz: Weigh In on the VMAs
MTV VMAs 2014 Recap
The stars received their fair share of awards this weekend at the MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday. Share your opinion on what happened in the comments below!
Does Beyoncé run the world?
Beyoncé reminded everyone why she's queen with an extensive 16 minute medley featuring the songs from her self titled album that dropped by surprise last year. Following the flawless performance, her family came up on stage to honor her as "The best performer in the world" with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Adorably, Blue Ivy showed her approval with a simple "Good job, mommy!" Did you think Beyoncé's performance proved she deserved the award? What was your favorite part of her medley?
Did Miley surprise you...in a good way?
Miley Cyrus surprised everyone by not being surprising at all. Compared to last year's infamous twerkapalooza, this year she took a back seat and watched on as her +1 took the stage for her big Video of the Year award. The young spiffy man, Jesse Helt, revealed he was one of the thousands of homeless youths hungry and in need of support - a message that ran deep in the audience given the billions of dollars reaped each year by the big music celebs in attendance. More recently, Helt was revealed to be wanted in the state of Oregon, a bit of news that hopefully won't negatively impact Miley's good intentions. What do you think? Was this a PR stunt or is Miley doing real good? Does Helt's criminal record ruin her message?
Did Nicki go too far?
Nicki Minaj pulled an outfit oops during her song, "Bang Bang," with Jessie J and Ariana Grande. Gracefully she held both composure and her outfit together after changing out of her also riské "Anaconda" get-up. Between her single's viral album cover and her music video's record breaking views on YouTube, Nicki wasn't about to be held back by a little zipper troubles. How did you like her two performances? Was Nicki too provocative?
Were the Kardashians out of line?
Rapper, Common, led an emotional moment of silence for Michael Brown, the 18 year-old shot and killed by a police officer earlier this month. During the moment, the camera caught a climpse of the Kardashians adjusting their appearance and texting triggering some heavy criticism from social media and news outlets. Do you think they deserve the backlash?
How did you feel about the VMAs? Did it live up to the buzz? Just image days before the show, it was already trending given Iggy Azalea's slip off the stage during a MTV benefit concert, a show worker's slip off the winding, sloping stage platforms, Nicki Minaj's backup dancer getting bit by a 6 foot Boa Constrictor, and Suge Knight getting shot at Chris Brown's pre-party. What do you think next year will hold?
