If you've been on Pinterest at all, likely you've run across a number of pins boasting hidden beauty gems in your kitchen. One such gem is castor oil. The natural option has a number of skin and hair benefits that you might not be familiar with. Read on to see how you can start incorporating castor oil into your beauty routine right now.
1) Use it as a split end tamer
If you're guilty of using a hot tool one too many times, you might find yourself faced with more split ends than you'd care to admit. Castor oil is a simple and easy way to help moisturize dry ends and minimize split ends. To use, apply to the tips of hair and wash off in the morning.
2) Use to help eye brow growth
Castor oil has been linked to stimulating hair growth. Because castor oil contains Ricinoleic acid, an essential amino acid and Omega-9 fatty acid, the oil can penetrate deep into the skin and hair pores thus stimulating growth. To use, apply a very small amount of the oil to a spoolie and brush over brows (and lashes), being sure to avoid contact with your eyes. Use consistently to encourage results!
3) Use to double cleanse
As you probably already know, using a cleansing oil followed by a traditional cleanser can give you a deep cleanse. To use, combine one part castor oil to one part a carrier oil such as apricot kernel oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, or almond oil. Cleanse face and follow with a milk, foam, or gel cleanser.
4) Use as a muscle massager
Because castor oil has self-heating properties, it makes for a great option for muscle massages. These types of massages can help ease muscle tension and even draw out toxins. Use a small amount to massage and moisturize tired, stiff areas. Tip: Castor oil can stain, so be sure to wear old clothes and let it fully sink in before hopping into a clean bed!
