We Tried It: BSB Beauty Globes
The hunt for an eye product that cures bags, dark circles, and puffiness—basically any sign of a late night—is one that I've been on for ages. From creams to gels, spoons to tea bags—I've tried it all. In fact, I'd all but given up the search when these little orbs appeared on my desk. Claiming to reduce puffiness and aid in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fines, BSB Beauty Globes earned the top spot on my must-try list. Read how they measured up below.
Product: Beauty Globes + De-Puff & Smoothing Serum for Eyes ($85)
What it is: Although these glass globes look like they should be accessories in a science kit for kids, they're actually powerful skincare tools. The idea is that these quirky globes increase the efficacy of your favorite eye care products. To use, refrigerate the globes (or place in cool water) and then use them in conjunction with your favorite serum (or in this case, the Bella Schneider option the kit comes with). Rub the globes over your eyes and under eye area to help the serum penetrate the skin, reduce inflammation, and even increase lymphatic blood flow.
Our take: My main concern when it comes to my eyes is puffiness and dark circles. (Luckily, fine lines haven't crept up on me just yet.) I was very eager to give the beauty globes a go in hopes they would help hide the fact I've been getting very little sleep these days. (Full-time job, marathon training, and some hope at a social life—you do the math!) I decided to try the beauty globes both at night and in the morning to see if I could attack my sleepy eyes from all angles.
I placed the globes in the fridge for about an hour prior to using at bedtime. I went ahead with my skincare routine as normal, applying the BSB De-Puff Smoothing Serum last. The serum is a strong cocktail of licorice root, detoxifying seaweed, D panthenol-hyaluronic acid, and hexapeptide—all of which come together to moisturize, boost collagen, and depuff peepers.
I applied the serum generously to my under eye areas, temples, and above my brows so that I created a mask around my eyes, if you will. Next it was time for the globes. I rubbed the globes all over the serum in a "C" shape around my eyes, and I have to say, I loved it. The coolness of the globes combined with the soothing serum definitely calmed me down and left my eyes feeling indulged.
The next morning, I woke up and noticed my bags weren't as prevalent as they typically are. (This is a good sign, I thought.) I continued with my morning routine and applied the serum in the same formation as before. This time the globes were even cooler to the touch—I left them in the fridge overnight—and they were like a burst of energy to my tired eyes! The globes are smooth and greatly reduce the likelihood of accidental tugging of delicate eye skin. I never spend time on my skin in the morning, (I know, I know) and I found myself spending a solid five minutes massaging the globes all over my eyes. Although I can't say for certain if my reduced puffiness is due to the globes or if I got a bit more shut-eye than normal, I did notice a reduction in inflamed skin. Alas, my dark circles, remained, but to be honest, that's nothing a little concealer can't fix.
Bottom line: My biggest takeaway from these beauty globes is how enjoyable the ritual of eye care really is. I thoroughly adored the cool, smooth touch of the globes, and partnered with the efficacious serum, this entire process was more of a luxurious experience than anything else. In addition to helping me realize I could benefit from an extra hour (or five) of sleep, my experiment with the globes made me more aware of treating my eyes gently and carefully. Spending time finding the right product, massaging the skin (carefully!), and applying cool pressure is now on my nightly docket.
