Beauty Resolutions to make for 2015

Beauty Resolutions to make for 2015

Make 2015 the year that you feel, and look, your best. Because when you're feeling confident and beautiful there's no telling what you'll do!

Here are 20 beauty resolutions we're making for 2015, will you join us?

1. Hydrate.

Although this is usually at the forefront during the hotter months, this one is quickly forgotten when the temperatures drop. Treat your skin right from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing day and night. Here's a handy trick: take your weight and divide it by 2. That's the number of ounces you need to drink each day to stay hydrated! Drinking water and moisturizing are key ways to keep your skin looking and feeling refreshed and renewed.

2. Floss more.

Do we sound like your mother? Flossing is too easy to skip, but in reality it's something that could extremely benefit your health. Not only for your teeth, but also for the rest of your body. Who doesn't want a beautiful smile?

Products to try:  DenTek Flossers

3. Use sunscreen.

Make this the year you stop skin damage.  Using sunscreen is an easy way to ensure skin health and beauty not only in 2015, but also for many many years to come. Even if you're going to be on vacation for a short period of time keep in mind those harmful UV rays never take a day off.

Products to try: Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen, Australian Gold Continuous Clear Spray

4. Do your research.

We often buy beauty products based on packaging and hype, but before you splurge on a hot new beauty trend make sure it does what it says it does. An easy way to get authentic reviews on a beauty product is to look at Influenster reviews!

5. See a professional.

We're all for the at-home treatment, but once in a while it's nice to get a professional opinion. Whether its for a simple mani pedi, a waxing, or a make-up consultation, take time to see a professional and hear their advice, product suggestions, and tips.

6. Don't knock a drug store brand until you try it.

We often associate a higher price tag with a higher quality product. While this is sometimes true, there are many exceptions to the rule.

Products to try: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick, Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner, Sinful Colors Nail Polish, and NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Color.

7. Know when to save and when to splurge.

Drug store brands are great, but sometimes in certain cases you need to splurge. Maybe your skin is super sensitive or your hair needs an extra boost, whatever your specific needs, don't shy away from splurging when necessary. Invest in a quality foundation that works well for your skin, a signature scent, and a great haircut.

8. Treat your hands and feet right (even through the winter).

It's really easy to ignore your feet when they're smushed in snow boots all winter, but remember that getting a pedicure isn't all superficial. Taking care of your hands and feet through the winter can prevent small problems from becoming big ones. Plus, it's a great way to relax!

Products to try: Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer, Vaseline Intensive Care

9. Focus on the fit and look -- not the size or price tag.

We often get caught up in being a certain size or buying something because it has a certain price on the tag. Forget about the numbers! Buy things because they fit well, not because they have some arbitrary number on them. This will free you from limiting yourself while shopping. You might even discover that another size or lower priced brand suits you better.

10. Throw away old make up.

It can be hard to part with your favorite lipstick or eyeliner, but when it's time, let them go. Keeping old make-up smushed in your cabinet or make-up bag isn't beneficial to you or your beauty products. Can you say germs?  Gross.  Plus, if you make room you might even discover something you like even more!

Products to try: COVERGIRL Full LashBloom by LashBlast Mascara, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner, Boots No7 High Shine Lip Crayon

11. Clean your brushes properly and regularly.

Brushes are a breeding ground for bacteria, and when they get dirty, it can wreak havoc on your face.  This year, vow to clean your brushes at least once a month.  In order to make your tools and products last (and stave off some nasty breakouts) you're going to have to learn to take care of them properly. We have a great brush-cleaning tutorial here to get the ball rolling.

Products to try: BareMinerals Quick Change Brush Cleaner, Cinema Secrets Professional Brush Cleaner, Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner, Ecotools Makeup Brushes, Urban Decay Brushes, Sigma Makeup Brushes

12. Stop picking off your polish

Who isn't guilty of this terrible habit?  We know we are.  Here's the thing though: picking off your polish (especially if it's gel) really destroys your nails. So stop doing it!  Instead, invest in some good polish or a quality manicure and then as soon as it starts to chip, take if off with remover.

Products to try: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel, Nail Tek Program, Kiss Nail Dress

13. Wash your makeup off every single night.

No matter how tired or busy you are, make a promise that you'll wash your make-up off every single night. Believe us: you will see a difference. Even the most sensitive skin can find a make-up remover that works for them.

14. Wash your hair less frequently.

This one can be hard for some, because you feel dirty if you don't wash your hair every day. Skipping washes can actually help your hair stay vibrant and healthy longer because it helps your natural oils keep hair from drying out. Also, the longer you wait between washes the better chance you have of keeping color and avoiding split ends. Dry shampoos are a great way to bridge a bigger gap between washes.

Products to try: Fekkai Salon Professional Blow Out Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo, Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo, Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo, Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder, and Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo.

15. Stop overplucking and let your brows grow in.

Thanks to the likes of Cara Delevigne, Lily Collins, and others, full brows are in, and it looks like they're here to stay. Fuller eybrows give a nautral, youthful look that require less maitenence. They're also an easy way to build off your natural beauty. So put the tweezers down and embrace a more natural look. Need a boost? We have some product suggestions.

Products to try: Latisse (yes, to use on your brows!), Benefit Gimme Brow Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel, Mally Brow Beauty Brow Gel

16.  Get more sleep.

Believe it or not, beauty sleep is real. Think about it. Does anyone look all that great after a late night? We didn't think so. Vow to make this the year you get those magical 8 hours (in a row!) and banish the bags under your eyes. Hey, maybe you'll even save on concealer!

17. Find what really works for you.

It's never too early or too late to find the perfect product for you. We know it can be hard to find "the one" among the flurry of beauty products available today, but keep in mind you can find authentic reviews and ask any question you'd like on millions of products with Influenster!

18. Learn something new!

Break out of your beauty rut this year and learn something new. Watch tutorials in order to inspire some new beauty looks. Whether it's for a new hairstyle, the perfect cat eye, or anything in between, chances are there's a tutorial on the web.

Tutorials to try:  How to wear glitter, How to do a fishtail braid, Fight split ends

19. Be bold and try new things.

Get out of your comfort zone. With each new year comes plenty of opportunity to try new things. Even if you aren't an extrovert, there's always room to add bold colors to your palette. Save them for a special occasion or serve them up daily. Grab a new lipstick, go to a new waxing specialist, or even chop your hair off! Whatever you do, don't let 2015 go by without revamping your look.

20. Stay true to yourself

Trends come and go and rarely work for everyone. Stop trying to hitch a ride on the latest "in" thing and discover what really works for you. That can mean makeup, clothes, fitness routines -- whatever! There is no one on this planet quite like you. And that's the most beautiful thing of all.
