10 Beauty Lessons We Learned From Fashion Month
After four weeks filled with stunning clothes, mega street style, and enviable beauty looks, Fashion Month has come to a close. While you might be sad that you’re going to have to wait until September to get your daily runway dose again, you shouldn’t be too upset because the Fall 2017 shows gave us some great beauty trends to try out. Check out 10 fresh beauty ideas were learned from the shows:
1. Update your ombre locks with punky lowlights.
Versace’s bold streaks were fresh and fun. The best part is you don’t need to book a trip to the salon to recreate them. Use a temporary hair color to get the look like the pros used backstage at the show.
2. Add some red to your black eyeshadow.
Black shadow is a classic, but it’s only improved with a bit of red. Case in point: The makeup look at Alberta Ferretti.
3. Try bold lips and natural eyes.
Leave it to Topshop to make cherry red lipstick feel effortless. Makeup artist Lynsey Alexander applied the bold shade to models’ kissers then kept the rest of the face natural.
4. Go collegiate with your mani.
It was back to school @fentyxpuma AW17 with models strutting down the runway at the Bibliothèque National de France. Different nail looks were created for each clique of school kids. The Jocks wore nails done up like Varsity socks and Puma crests. #fentyxpuma #youngnails #jennylongworth #jennynails #nails #nailart #PFW
Show some school pride or simply channel a bit of tongue-in-cheek prep school chic like models did at the Fenty x Puma show. The red, white, and blue color palette is classic.
Try: OPI Nail Lacquer
5. Embrace blue eyeshadow.
If Pat McGrath did it, so should you. The master makeup artist applied a bit of bold blue shadow to models’ lids at Prada.
6. Try unexpected color combinations.
It’s time to get out of your monochromatic eyeshadow rut. Oscar de la Renta’s red and purple eyeshadow is just the way to do it.
7. Try three braids.
One braid is good, two braids are great, but three braids as seen at Balmain slay.
8. Let your cheeks be the focus.
Attention all strobing lovers, this is the look for you. Ditch all of the color on your face and enhance your cheeks with a prismatic highlighter to recreate Max Mara’s on point look.
9. Swap your hun for tousled double buns.
As much as we love a good hun (half-up bun), we couldn’t resist these super cute half-up double buns at Anna Sui.
10. Take your black shadow to the extreme.
Forget a flick for Saturday night. Go big or go home a la the smoky eyeshadow look from the Balmain Fall 2017 show. The hint of brown takes it to the next level.
