Beauty 101: How to Apply Concealer
Ahhh concealer -- some of us like to call it the "holy grail" or the "magic eraser!" For many it is the answer to the FAQ, “What's the beauty product you can't live without?" But to get the most out of this hardworking product, two things are of utmost importance -- choosing the right shade and applying correctly. So, for some clarifications on both of these fronts we're going to help you find the right shade of concealer and tell you how to use it!
PICKING THE RIGHT SHADE:
For Under Your Eyes:
When it comes to choosing the correct shade of concealer for the under eye area, be sure to select a shade that is no more than one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. If you have blue under eye circles yellow-toned concealers are best! For brown or yellow circles use a concealer with a peachy base. Redness under eyes can be covered by a concealer that matches your natural skin color.
For Your Face:
When it comes to selecting the correct shade of concealer for your face select a concealer that matches your foundation. Going too dark with a concealer or foundation in an attempt to create a tanned look doesn't enhance the face, but instead calls attention to problem areas because it doesn't look natural. So it's important to use the right, light touch!
HOW TO APPLY:
Apply several dots of concealer where it's needed, such as under the eyes or on blemishes. You can use your finger or, for best results, try a small-headed brush with firm bristles. Using the pad of your finger or brush, tap in the concealer and blend well. For the last step dust loose powder or foundation to set it into place!
