5 Most Anticipated Fall TV Shows

5 Most Anticipated Fall TV Shows

The summer weather may have us soaking up the sun, but that doesn’t mean that on rainy days (or any day, because let’s face it, sometimes you just want to lay on the couch) we’re not-so-patiently waiting for our Fall TV schedule to come back.

Dinner on Monday? Only if it’s before 8 PM! I’ve got to be home for The Voice – no question. Wednesday night? Modern Family, obviously. So, mark your calendars ladies and gentleman - because we’ve rounded up the shows we're all excited to have back in our lives this September.

These are the Fall TV shows you should be watching this fall:

1. “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” – Tuesday, September 15th at 10 PM (ET) on NBC

I’m waiting with bated breath for this talk show premier. Not only do I love just about every talk show on television, but I also have a huge amount of faith in the “How I Met Your Mother” star’s abilities - largely in thanks to his 2009 and 2013 hosting of the Primetime Emmy’s and his 2015 hosting of the Academy Awards. Harris’s show is supposedly a synthesis of classic variety acts, comedy show skits, and the best of the talk show world. It is set to feature A-list celebrities and newcomers alike. Put it on my calendar? Yes, please.

2. “How to Get Away with Murder” – Thursday, September 24th at 10 PM (ET) on ABC

Make sure you’re firmly secured in your seat because this premier will make you fall out of your chair. As if the past few seasons haven’t been enough, How to Get Away with Murder promises to deliver yet again this season. Like its predecessor “Scandal” (which is on right before it, premiering on the same date if you can handle it!) HTGAWM features fast-paced lawyering with far more (in my humble opinion) plot-twists. If you're a fan of an all around thriller be sure to catch up before this season starts!

3. “Jane the Virgin” – Monday, October 19th at 9:00 PM (ET) on The CW

Waiting until October for this Golden Globe award winning, barrier-breaking show might seem impossible, but I think it’ll be worth the wait. Often compared to “Gilmore Girls” with three-generations of heroine conflict imbued in the family ties, this show has been hailed as homely and gripping all at the same time. With its witty sense of humor and breath-taking drama, this heartwarming show is the perfect way to make your Mondays a little more bearable.

4. “The Voice” – Monday, September 21st at 8:00 PM (ET) on NBC

As repetitive as the 9th season of a talent show might sound, I’m convinced this is the best of the sing-offs. Despite some seemingly pre-planned sob stories and staged moments, I always find myself rooting for the underdog, anxiously waiting for at least one judge to turn around, and really enjoying the banter between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. This year, their stacked cast of judges returns with Pharrell, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton sitting in those oh-so-suspenseful chairs. Needless to say, I can not wait for this one to start up again.

5. “Modern Family” – Wednesday, September 24th at 9 PM (ET) on ABC

A classic. If you haven’t seen this before, start watching now. The characters are unbelievably easy to get to know, and better yet, so is the plotline. Generally, there’s a new plotline each episode and the order isn’t something you need to keep track of. If you didn’t already know (because you live under a rock) Modern Family is hilarious, playing on classic family dynamics as well as universal experiences and frustrations. If it’s not already apart of your routine, make it one this fall!
