I've read many reviews on OPI and there are a few things people typically mention: price, length of wear, availability of colors, etc.

However, there are several things that people don't tend to take into consideration: the price of other "high end" nail polishes, size of the brush, and the ability to match with your professionally done mani/pedi.

First and foremost, I've tried MANY high end nail polishes such as Lancome, Dior, Butter London, etc. OPI is as good if not superior to these nail polishes...at a much lower price. Lancome retails at around $15 per bottle, Dior at $24, and Butter London at $14. Comparatively, OPI is a steal. Not to mention you can routinely get it on sale at Ulta (they usually have some sort of BOGO deal or at the very least 20% off entire purchase or $3.50 off of $10). I also used to get $15 manicures at Aveda that included the bottle of OPI they used.

It's also great because nearly every salon I've ever been to has used OPI or at least had the option of using OPI. Therefore, if you chip a nail or your polish chips before a big event (e.g., a wedding) you can grab a bottle and touch it up yourself! Or, better yet, when you go to the salon, buy the bottle or pick a color you already own!

Now, talking about the coverage...I love it. It goes on smooth and easy, it's not clumpy at all. I love the way it looks after I'm done! So much better than Dior and Butter London which aren't any where near as glossy.

While most of my nail polish collection consists of OPI, I do have one MAJOR gripe with these polishes: the brush size. I have small hands. Very small hands. Whenever I get a manicure, the manicurist always comments on how small my hands and nails are (no matter the length of the nails at that point). The brushes for OPI polishes are ENORMOUS. They are much wider than any other brand I have ever used. I have quite a few other brands in my collection because of this. Personally, I've found that Dior has the best sized brush--it's not too small, it's not too wide, it's just right! Though I like Dior's brush the best, I prefer both Lancome's and Butter London's brushes to OPI's. In my opinion, the brush size is OPI's major downfall.

Lastly, OPI's time to dry is a littler longer than I'd prefer. All three of the other brands I mentioned (Lancome, Dior, Butter London) dry faster. I typically end up smudging the OPI on at least one finger when I do my nails--yes, I'm a wee bit impatient ;) If you're the patient kind who doesn't mind waiting, then this won't be a problem for you at all! It's definitely not an outrageous time, just probably a little longer than average.

I am one of those girls who never goes to salons to get manicures -- I love changing my polish and experimenting with different layers and colors. Ever since my first bottle of Zoya polish (Ziv, a gorgeous high-shine metallic gold that goes on opaque in 2 coats), I have been hooked. Zoya is also vegan-friendly and doesn't contain many of the harsh ingredients in most drugstore polishes (I bought some for my sister when she was pregnant so she could still have fun doing her nails), which is another reason to try this brand. I own over 15 bottles of Zoya polish, because this brand also does FABULOUS promo deals (like getting 3 free bottles and just paying shipping, and frequent BOGO deals). There are matte, metallic, opaque, sheer/shimmer, and glitter shades available, and most go on opaque in only 2 coats. Some of my favorite shades are Charla (a shimmery oceanic turquoise blue), Sookie (bright cool-toned red opaque in only 1 coat), Kiki (bright Barbie bubblegum pink with a cool undertone and slight shimmer), and Hudson (a shimmering lavender-purple perfect for spring). Try this polish and I guarantee you'll become a fan and end up with a shoebox full of Zoya bottles!

This brand seems like an ordinary drugstore nail polish at first glance from the cheap $1.99 price tag, so you wouldn't expect much, but boy did that phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover' come to mind after trying this for the first time. I was shocked at the quality after one manicure with this diamond in the rough polish because it last nearly a week and a half before I noticed any chips, which were hardly noticeable too. The formula on these is easily comparable if not better to some high end brands as it glides on smoothly with no streaking and the newly revamped brush makes application a breeze with one swipe per nail. These polishes don't require nearly as many coats as their old formula and I find that 2 is sufficient enough for the perfect opaqueness. The shade range in this collection is great too, they offer a wide variety of shades to suit just about anyone. I highly recommend this polish, the quality and cheap price tag is deceiving, you're getting a killer deal!

What can I say about Essie polishes that hasn't already been said? LOL! I own seven or eight colors overall, each color stands out on its own from nudes to eye popping corals, they're all great. However, I sometimes do encounter little things here and there, but for the quality, I'll put up with it. I have two colors, tart deco and greige color, they tend to be streaky. It's something I'll deal with and honestly, it's not that bothersome. Other than that, I love the quality. With a great top coat (I suggest NYC's quick dry), it will surpass the typical week or work week length the average manicure lasts. Also, I know people have mixed feelings when it comes to the color Butler Please, but if you have a great top coat, it will help a little. Mattes in general don't last as long as regular formulas, simply because the formula is obviously different. If I love the color enough, it doesn't bother me. It's just common sense. When it comes to Butler Please, in my opinion it looks better with a clear top coat. If you don't want a matte and don't want to apply the clear coat, I do suggest a dupe for Butler Please by Sally Hansen, Pacific Blue. Either way, Essie has great polishes, they're pretty wallet friendly and my wallet doesn't cry as much if I buy a bottle or two. I feel when it comes to nail trends they are pretty accurate/on point. No one does bolds and pastels as good as Essie!

I recently was given a sample of Formula X nail polish from a friend. It was in this very deep red color: Ignite. Now, I’m not usually one to wear bold nail polish colors and I usually steer away from red hues because it’s very unforgiving. If you paint your nails yourself you know that red can show every little flaw of you mess up. However, this color was just so very beautiful that I could not pass up giving it a try.
I love this color! It’s so bold and makes my nails pop. Also, I’m not sure what it is about this color but it makes me feel so very beauty every time I look at it and almost makes my hand feel dainty. It’s a very romantic color and makes me wanna run on and buy some va-va-voom deep red lipstick to go with it. It went on very smooth and actually looked good after just one coat. I went ahead and did two but I’m just sayin’…this stuff is legit.

I've been seeing this line of nail color in my department stores for a few weeks now. I live in a remote area of Montana so they'd probably been out a bit before we got them up here. When I first saw these, I had just made a rather ridiculous lacquer haul, so while 'all the pretty colors' had me entranced for a few moments, I passed them by every time. Over the course of the following few weeks, Id been very disappointed with the nail products I'd gotten. I was beginning to think it was my nails that wouldn't hold the product because they weren't cheap! Ironically, I was in CVS to get some nail treatments when the Sinful Colors displays once again caught my wandering eye.
They have several racks set up around the cosmetics counter, with different finishes featured on each rack. AND THEY WERE ALL .99 CENTS! Now, this line is normally only 1.99, so very cheap anyhow...BUT .99 CENTS? THIS was the time to check these out! I must say, I wasn't expecting the best wear for price. Our minds are conditioned to believe these things you know. I purchsed 20 different colors.....LOL 20 !! How couldn't I!? I fully intended on having to pass them to my daughters OR put some extra effort into them (as in heavily build them to get color on bottle, good base and top w/anti chip polish....etc)
But this was NOT THE CASE!!!!
These laquers are wearing MUCH better than the ones I'd bought just days before, that were thrice the cost! MORE than even!! The color, finish and texture range is outstanding! I wont even say 'for the price', because the cost of these stand completely alone. I'm SO happy with this line, I've done been back to every dept. store in town that carries them and picked up every color our town carries.
LOVE THIS LINE!!! Two coats to get the full color on bottle, but I'm used to that so it doesn't bother me at all. Ive always used 2 coats no matter HOW good the polish.
I do use a cheap LA Colors base coat with Seche Vite on top..but overall, I couldn't be happier with them!! GORGE! Am even making a dedicated review video on the line!
