However, there are several things that people don't tend to take into consideration: the price of other "high end" nail polishes, size of the brush, and the ability to match with your professionally done mani/pedi.
First and foremost, I've tried MANY high end nail polishes such as Lancome, Dior, Butter London, etc. OPI is as good if not superior to these nail polishes...at a much lower price. Lancome retails at around $15 per bottle, Dior at $24, and Butter London at $14. Comparatively, OPI is a steal. Not to mention you can routinely get it on sale at Ulta (they usually have some sort of BOGO deal or at the very least 20% off entire purchase or $3.50 off of $10). I also used to get $15 manicures at Aveda that included the bottle of OPI they used.
It's also great because nearly every salon I've ever been to has used OPI or at least had the option of using OPI. Therefore, if you chip a nail or your polish chips before a big event (e.g., a wedding) you can grab a bottle and touch it up yourself! Or, better yet, when you go to the salon, buy the bottle or pick a color you already own!
Now, talking about the coverage...I love it. It goes on smooth and easy, it's not clumpy at all. I love the way it looks after I'm done! So much better than Dior and Butter London which aren't any where near as glossy.
While most of my nail polish collection consists of OPI, I do have one MAJOR gripe with these polishes: the brush size. I have small hands. Very small hands. Whenever I get a manicure, the manicurist always comments on how small my hands and nails are (no matter the length of the nails at that point). The brushes for OPI polishes are ENORMOUS. They are much wider than any other brand I have ever used. I have quite a few other brands in my collection because of this. Personally, I've found that Dior has the best sized brush--it's not too small, it's not too wide, it's just right! Though I like Dior's brush the best, I prefer both Lancome's and Butter London's brushes to OPI's. In my opinion, the brush size is OPI's major downfall.
Lastly, OPI's time to dry is a littler longer than I'd prefer. All three of the other brands I mentioned (Lancome, Dior, Butter London) dry faster. I typically end up smudging the OPI on at least one finger when I do my nails--yes, I'm a wee bit impatient ;) If you're the patient kind who doesn't mind waiting, then this won't be a problem for you at all! It's definitely not an outrageous time, just probably a little longer than average.
I love this color! It’s so bold and makes my nails pop. Also, I’m not sure what it is about this color but it makes me feel so very beauty every time I look at it and almost makes my hand feel dainty. It’s a very romantic color and makes me wanna run on and buy some va-va-voom deep red lipstick to go with it. It went on very smooth and actually looked good after just one coat. I went ahead and did two but I’m just sayin’…this stuff is legit.
They have several racks set up around the cosmetics counter, with different finishes featured on each rack. AND THEY WERE ALL .99 CENTS! Now, this line is normally only 1.99, so very cheap anyhow...BUT .99 CENTS? THIS was the time to check these out! I must say, I wasn't expecting the best wear for price. Our minds are conditioned to believe these things you know. I purchsed 20 different colors.....LOL 20 !! How couldn't I!? I fully intended on having to pass them to my daughters OR put some extra effort into them (as in heavily build them to get color on bottle, good base and top w/anti chip polish....etc)
But this was NOT THE CASE!!!!
These laquers are wearing MUCH better than the ones I'd bought just days before, that were thrice the cost! MORE than even!! The color, finish and texture range is outstanding! I wont even say 'for the price', because the cost of these stand completely alone. I'm SO happy with this line, I've done been back to every dept. store in town that carries them and picked up every color our town carries.
LOVE THIS LINE!!! Two coats to get the full color on bottle, but I'm used to that so it doesn't bother me at all. Ive always used 2 coats no matter HOW good the polish.
I do use a cheap LA Colors base coat with Seche Vite on top..but overall, I couldn't be happier with them!! GORGE! Am even making a dedicated review video on the line!
