Review for Algenist GENIUS Sleeping Collagen - 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I’ve been using this Algenist GENIUS Sleeping Collagen every night for about four weeks now, which goes on about 30 minutes after I apply my tretinoin cream. I have acne prone, combo skin, that flakes and feels dry in the morning from using the tretinoin. I typically go for a creamy, emollient type of moisturizer afterwards, so this product took some getting used to. It’s very balmy, nice and thick in the jar, which I like so that my fingers don’t go right in causing too much product pick-up. Instead, when you swirl your hand around on it, there is a very thin amount picked up with a very silky almost oily texture to it. It applies easily to the face and does not feel oily once it has absorbed for a moment. A little amount does spread easily. It feels somewhat hydrating, but not enough like the amount of moisture I get from the cream I am used to. The scent is amazing though I will say, for having a fragrance which I don’t typically like in a facial product, it is very faint and smells like vanilla frosting to me.

I have had a few breakouts along my jawline, but nothing egregious compared to what I’m used to (that is my acne prone area) so I can’t say that this product was the cause. I will probably alternate between this product and the other moisturizer I have just to use up the jar, but think this is something I will try again in the summer when my skin isn’t as thirsty and tight feeling. Maybe it just takes more getting used to in terms of texture, or perhaps I just need a longer adjustment period.

Review for MOROCCAN GOLD SERIES Hair Treatment Mask - 3 months ago
I got this MOROCCAN GOLD SERIES Hair Treatment Mask in the recent winter FabFitFun Box I received. I’m kind of a snob when it comes to hair masks, since I have very long hair and am in tune with how I want my hair to feel after it has dried. I went ahead and tried this, and first impression while adding to my hair was that it was thick and creamy which I like (I avoid applying near my scalp otherwise my hair will become oily very fast), but wow was the scent strong! It smells good but it’s so strong that it’s overwhelming. In fact, my hubby later in the day asked what I used because it was giving him a headache. I left the mask on while I finished my shower, so maybe 5 minutes. While my hair was easy to brush through when getting out of the shower, and did feel pretty soft, I am not convinced it works any better than the other products in my arsenal. In fact, I think it left my hair a bit more frizzy than some other high-end masks I am used to and love (L'ANZA Keratin Healing Oil Intensive Hair Masque 210ml being one of them). Will I finish the jar over time? Yes. Would I purchase again? I think I’ll pass.

One of my favorite Zevia Zero Calorie Strawberry Soda Soft Drink flavors is strawberry! I enjoy almost all flavors, but this one is nostalgic of strawberry soda I drank when I was a kid. I try to avoid sugary, calorie filled sodas so Zevia is a great alternative! No funny aftertaste, lots of carbonation and that burn feeling I love in the back of my throat, and it mixes well with vodka for a lower calorie cocktail. I also am very pleased that this soda is clear- no bs food colorings that are so toxic!

Review for Sol de Janeiro Acai Body Power Cream - 3 months ago
Purchased at: Sephora
Meh. I was excited to receive this Sol de Janeiro Acai Body Power Cream, as I have heard wonderful things about the Bum Bum cream and it’s intoxicating scent. While this does smell yummy, it is quite strong so I wouldn’t wear any additional fragrances with it. The scent does last, I can smell it throughout the day even when applying to my legs only. It appears to have a slight shimmer which is fine. I will say though, for $45 for 8oz, I would expect this to do a lot more for me in terms of hydration. I actually find that it leaves me legs feeling dry and tight after it has absorbed. I find other moisturizers work better at a fraction of the price, but if you’re just so in love with the scent I can see why you would like this.

YES Alter Eco Dark Salted Brown Butter Organic Chocolate is my jam!!! I love dark chocolate, and I always look for organic. Why I selected this brand in the store compared to the other many many organic brands is three main reasons- price, flavor selection, minimal and clean ingredients. This brown butter is my favorite of the few flavors I’ve tried. It has such a rich and slightly buttery taste, is sweet but not too sweet. 70% cocoa is perfect for me bc it has the most flavor and isn’t quite bitter yet but has depth. Paired with some wine and I’m in heaven! I can usually get my hands on a bar for $3 or less when on sale. Compared to another brand I love that is $8 per bar when on sale, I choose Alter Eco instead every time.

Review for BOTOX® Cosmetic - 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I’m hooked on BOTOX® Cosmetic! Okay, I’m 33 years old, and started getting botox on my 30th birthday, and go back approx. every four months (for me personally it lasts 3-4 months before it starts to wear off). The first two times I got it done, the RN I went to was heavy handed and gave me 35 units! It was way too much for me as I did not want to be totally frozen. I since have been going to a different RN and she injects 20 units total between horizontal lines across my forehead as well as my crows feet. I do not have my elevens (vertical lines between my eyebrows) done.

The botox takes effect about 5 days after injection, and I love the feeling once it kicks in. It’s like a tightness but not at all painful, and I’m still able to move my face and show expression. It’s just that the lines don’t appear as deep when I smile or laugh or scowl.

I think it is definitely worth the $12 per unit that I pay, and I will continue to get botox going forward as a preventative measure to prevent deep, set in lines and creases. Just make sure you go to a reputable clinic or skin spa, with an injector you trust, and one that uses AUTHENTIC BOTOX!

Review for Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus Eye - 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
It’s been over a month since my last eye cream review, and I have been using this since about that time. I ordered this through the Perricone MD website during a sale they had in November, and began using it the day it came in the mail.

First thing to note- I still have half the jar after daily use for like I said about a month. There is enough slip to it that it spreads easily without tugging on my eye skin. For the price of $110 per jar, I am happy to know that it’s lasting me a while.

Secondly, some reviewers mention there is a fishy smell- as I understand it, there was a very recent reformulation that no longer includes fish oil and therefore no fishy smell. I don’t smell anything off-putting in this eye cream. It also does not irritate my eyes whatsoever. Bonus! Some eye creams give me a burning sensation or cause milia.

I do feel there has been a subtle noticeable difference in my crows feet, the lines seem softer and even my circles seem a little less dark. I am a botox user, so my fine lines are minimal anyway- but they do seem lessened since using this eye cream. It also sits very well under the concealer I use, doesn’t make it cakey or dry. It’s very smooth.

I am not sure that I will buy another jar of this Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus Eye right away since I’m always in the hunt for a new eye cream, but it’s definitely one I will consider coming back to at some point!

Review for Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Dressing Classic Ranch - 3 months ago
Foodie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Kroger
I haven’t written many food reviews to this point, but I always say my favorite food is condiments, and particularly ranch. I put it on almost everything (within reason of course). Although I’m pretty picky about my ranch, the flavor, consistency, etc. I find Bolthouse Farms especially great! Firstly, it’s a runnier ranch. Unlike Hidden Valley which is SO thick, this one has perfect consistency to drizzle over a salad or on pizza, or if I’m filling veggies or cracker in it. The flavor is mild, which I like bc then the flavors don’t stick around in my mouth for long after (some give me garlic-y breath, yuck). Best part- it’s made with Greek yogurt! Higher protein, lower calories per serving. I feel less guilty eating many tablespoons vs. other ranch varieties. Overall my favorite I’ve been able to find at the store.

Side note- you will find Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Dressing Classic Ranch in the refrigerated section, typically by the produce. I love when condiments are refrigerated because it usually means less preservatives...this one is preservative free! Score!

If you are lactose intolerant, vegetarian, vegan, trying to make healthier options, or just want to try new things...Please find this and buy it!

I picked this up at Whole Foods after seeing Charlene Johnson talk about it on Instagram that it was her favorite non-dairy cream cheese. Though I haven’t had luck with vegan cheeses that I started trying to avoid stomach issues with dairy, I went out and picked this up anyway. Buffalo chicken dip is my weakness, so a dairy free cream cheese substitute excited me! WOW it is SO good! I was concerned I wouldn’t like it because I have tried Kite Hill almond milk yogurt in the past and thought it tasted too different from Greek yogurt, but glad I gave this brand another chance.

This cream cheese is creamy, smooth, and tastes very much like the real deal. It can be eaten with crackers or used to make cold or hot dips. It’s excellent I’m so impressed. I think I paid $6 for the tub so it’s definitely pricey but worth it in my opinion! Can’t wait to try the other flavors of Kite Hill™ Plain Cream Cheese Style Spread! Just have to find them first since not all stores here in Colorado carry the same selection.
