I am a breast cancer and cervical cancer survivor. I am a BRCA2 Mutation carrier. I've underwent many treatments and surgeries.
I now suffer from autoimmune conditions, but my spirit, heart and mind very active even though my body doesn't always want to cooperate. I love quality time spent with my husband, son and dog. I love music. I also love perfumes and fragrances - my hobby to collect, research and wear perfumes. My fave perfume house are Givenchy, Guerlain, Thierry Mugler, and Chanel. I also love "drugstore classic" and more affordable fragrances. I love Lush products... I'm a new Lushie, and already quite a little stash. I'm so into beauty and bath products. My faves are Shea Moisture, NYM, Maybelline, Revlon, Loreal, Too Faced - I would and do like to try everything! Since turning 50, I have been taking better care of maturing skin. I`m also always looking out for my hair. Chemo had left it thin, fine, and without proper moisture and tender loving care, it'll frizz and break.
I hope to gain a lot of knowledge here, to get takes on other's opinions and experiences. I hope I can lend some insights as well.
Sexy, retro bombshell floral and spice without the `ol vintage standard notes like aldehydes or civet - and it comes across so nicely without them ! Fan of old school glam , fabulous lingerie , and the likes? Try this. Spare amount of fruit , no sugar . Only sweetness comes from hyacinth , lily of the valley, magnolia, neroli. Leather notes with rose is irresistible and one of my fave combos, smooth yet peppery, and keeps it from being too much of an innocent flower bouquet. Reminds me of vintage silks, high end lipstick, cosmetics and hairspray, `n thigh highs.
Soft, powdery iris and citrusy, lemon and leather, sweetness, spice and rose, a bit of dusty vetiver , so classic and wearable almost year `round . I wear this for me . It`s so comfortable , cozy, and soothing. Winter , snuggling, in fur `n angora , and spending time lounging and cuddling is my favorite time to wear this. There s a freshness about it, but also a comforting. I am not a huge fan of civet... it has it`s place I understand - the civet used in the concoction is not overwhelming, dirty, or cat pissy. I received a coffer set of perfume when I was young, early teens ,with Shalimar in it , and have been a wearer since. There are different forms of Chantilly and flankers... the cologne has proved the best for me as I find it more wearable in warmer months, and I like the strength - but test, research , etc... to see which is best for you.
Has this ever changed through the years, the last 10 or so especially. I use to have mad love for Chantilly. It was a staple, always a place on the vanity, always received for Christmas. It was cozy, fuzzy cuddly, lemon and powdery, oakmoss bringing that vintage vibe. It would come on citrusy and blend down and in so nicely. Powder puff soft, and that slight vintage cosmetic spice. It had been compared to Shalimar, and often substituted for it. I could interchange the 2 , no problem. It has only a small bit of performance that it once had. You can get the gist of what it should be, but just does not deliver anymore. Instead of enveloping me in it`s wrap, it wants to suffocate me. It does not dry down , it stays the same throughout, and chokingly so. It`s a shame how such wonderful drug store classic beauties have been mistreated by reformulations and dreadful ingredients .
A lovely scent - and BIG. I originally bought and wore this in `87 for the first time, and whoa soo big - huge white tuberose, plum, patchouli. I still purchase and wear, and that sense of swirling smoke- purple and green surrounding me , and fragrant white flowers opening never fails. Poison is beautiful.
Known for being a Love or Hate. can be verrry sweet, also can be verrry strong, herbal, medicinal. On me it comes on heavy, green and camphor-ess , but after some time it changes to a sweetness surrounded by a cloud of decadence and some indecency. That is the way I can explain it. This takes TIME , like I said " after some time it changes", to calm down and evolve. I would advise spritzing an hour before going out , and not to spray again. I say this , and I am one to spray and spray alm0st any other perfume and on my way out the door- but not this. The notes are extensive, fruits, citrus, spice, candy, honey, patchouli, on and on ! I guess why it can be difficult for some to wear. This is one to give a test of a day to try, not to buy without sampling. I do love this for it`s uniqueness and of course TM quality, and thank goodness my chemistry works with it. Not it working with me, but me working with IT. Angel has a life of it`s own. For real, I can do only 1 or 2 small sprays in the air and twirl in it. Longevity is like a 50 out of 10 ;) Projection ? See above ;)
After falling in love with the original Alien, I decided to try this. With the same beautiful high quality jasmine, and vanilla , also is added a very deep ambery sweetness that matches the colour of the liquid, a smokiness, and incense. Longevity is amazing, the projection is nice , not obtrusive but definitely present. I can compare this only to Alien as far as scent. It`s not a duplicate, but certainly in the family. It`s sexy, and warm. Perfect for fall and winter, and I would dare for summer, with a light hand. Cannot go wrong with TM`s fabulous scents and the best of best ingredients TM uses. The quality really shows - or is smelled ;) Bottle has an ultra cool rich design. As always, make sure to register TM perfumes for nice goodies :)
I am a COCO fan, but always wanted to buy Allure Sensuelle after I tried in Macy`s. I was on the Chanel site, and I kept going back looking at Coco Mad. It is in the iconic bottle, and such a pretty pink liquid . I could not resist and chose it over AS. I was soo excited when it was delivered . It did not disappoint. Pure class. Elegant . Sweetness coming from the floral notes , herbal coming off from the patchouli. Very pretty, suits a young lady to a more mature women - any age it is appropriate for. The quality of Chanel scents is amazing. It can be sensed by yourself, and those around you will as well. Coco Mad is no exception. It gives such a confidence. It`s cold winter, and I have been wearing this everyday for 5 days, and it goes over well with winter, and I think would delightful in the spring. The longevity is out of this world ! I have worn all day and overnight and still, she is there, even with application of a lighter hand. I would recommend starting off light , and building up if there is a need. The patchouli may come on medicinal, even camphor to some. but it soon blends perfectly. I have a 3.4 ounce bottle, I would certainly purchase again.
Tocca Stella has to have the most beautiful sandalwood I had ever worn... too bad I do not have this in my wardrobe YET, only samples to test. The longevity for me seems an issue, but with a bottle of my own I could spray away :D
This has been a staple and a nostalgic fave since my preteen Christmases. I could count on a bottle (among other popular young frags of those days ) in my stocking for years ! I have a bottle or two on my vanity, and if I see a holiday mark down, or special, I will pick it up every time. It`s not just baby powder - there is such a cozy fluffy mix of lavender, musk, and geranium . That mix, also, makes it retro good! As I grew older, I really saw the sexy side of it. It`s all in who is wearing it, and when. I love this in the winter, snuggling up. My husband always comments agreeably on this scent. I also like to wear out of the shower and at bedtime.
