Review for H2O+ Beauty Oasis Hydrating Treatment - 1 week, 6 days ago

It's a decent gel moisturizer. There are better options for less money at the drugstore namely Clean & Clean's Morning Burst Gel that leaves a more satin finish where this makes me look gel wet and slightly greasy. My other gripe is that this blue gel actually leaves a blue cast on my very fair skin. Also this is NOT an acne safe product because it contains SILICONES and fragrance which is not appropriate for sensitive skin.

Review for: Fair Neutral more...
I bought the shade fair neutral which was a good match for me. Though it's named "neutral" it's actually a pink/cool leaning foundation that would definitely suit cool, fair skin. It's very light and definitely made for the porcelain princesses. The formula is horrendous. I have combo skin that can be dry and sensitive from acne treatments but gets extremely oily throughout the day (looks like crisco even when I used a matte foundation and powder/blot). To balance my skin, I use a HYDRATING primer and only add powder to parts of the face where I'll be applying blush and bronzer.

I used NYX's Honey Dew Me Up with the foundation and it was the worst, drying, patchy foundation I have ever used. I've never had this happen with another foundation, particularly when using a sticky, moist base. There is no primer I can use that fixes this mess. Applying a layer of a dewy foundation on top does not salvage the mess. This garbage is getting returned to Ulta ASAP.

I felt guilty for purchasing this junk in the first place since it wasn't inclusive towards women of color but being so pale, my own options are limited. Plus, I'm allergic to gluten and Tarte is one of the few GF brands. But it's just not worth it.

Sorry for the quality of the photos! It was half way through my makeup but I just had to show everyone how horribly it looked on my forehead.

Review for: Fair Porcelain, Natural Ivory more...
So many people recommended this foundation but it's not for me. I found it to be too creamy for my seriously oily skin. I had to add layer after layer of powder to keep it matte and it ended up looking like a cakey mess. Sure it covered well, but wasn't worth the struggle. Additionally, I had a very hard time finding a shade. I've very cool toned with pink skin and nothing looked natural. Natural Ivory was too dark and Fair Porcelain slightly too light. For me, Revlon ColorStay is a much better option. It's just as full coverage but lasts all day without getting oily. 110 Ivory is also a much better shade for me so if this foundation isn't working for you, look back to Revlon Colorstay Makeup !

Review for: Ivory more...
LOVE THIS. The color is a perfect match for me and this is the best formula I've tried for my extremely oily skin. It honestly lasted all day and made my skin look so nice. It's hard to find full coverage when you're very fair and trying to cover redness but this foundation did that.
I'm really sad I didn't try this earlier. I heard wonders about it in high school but never bought it since it seemed sooo expensive back then when I didn't make any money. I first tried the  Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage Foundation but it didn't stand up to my oil and none of the colors really matched. This is better.

Review for The Ordinary Serum Foundation SPF 15 - Fair 1.1P - 2 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
This light weight foundation is good to use for everyday wear. It has medium coverage and doesn't totally gunk the face up. For oily skin, this is a perfect option as it dries to a natural matte. However, this always cakes up on me. If I use a matte primer or use even a tiny bit of powder, this turns caky and textured. It also oxidized quite a lot for me personally. Initially it's a perfect match but turns at least one full shade darker. There are better options out there.

Review for: Baci (Nude Pink) more...
For me, it was too cool toned and looked very unnatural which doesn't make a good nude. I also didn't like how drying this was. I much prefer the ColourPop satin formula that gives a similar finish and isn't like a latex mask.

Review for: It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil Mini more...
I got the full-size in my January BoxyCharm. I really like this. I have dark blonde/light brown hair that's very ashy so I usually use "blonde" pencils or gels. This is the only "Universal" shade that actually works. Perfect neutral taupe. I also LOVE that this pencil is so creamy. The amount of pressure you use will determine the intensity. It's very easy to brush through and smooth out with the spoolie. I do find that this easily transfers so make sure to set with a gel! Would not recommend this for very oily skin or using during an intense activity such as working out, clubbing, hot events, etc.

Review for SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir - 3 months, 3 weeks ago

The first several times I used this product, I absolutely hated it. I used too much and my hair would get greasy. Now, I know better. The important this is to apply this to damp hair, really rubbing it into your palms evenly before even touching your hair. Apply to the bottoms and slowly work your way up. In regular "white" products, I typically use 10-20 pumps of serum because I have thick, porous, wavy hair. I only use 2-4 sprays MAXIMUM of this for my whole head. It's that effective. I helps define my waves/curls and makes them pretty and shiny. NO FRIZZ. This is a product that you really have to experiment with to get the best use so don't give up if you don't get good results the first time.
Review for OGX® Argan Oil Of Morocco Weightless Healing Dry Oil - 3 months, 3 weeks ago

I've used other Organix products and I'm sad to report that this did not work for me. It's a greasy spray that did not absorb into my hair but rather left a greasy coating. It does contain silicones and other ingredients not approved for the curly girl method. Since my waves still got frizzy anyway, I will not purchase this in the future. I'm also not crazy about the smell of the product and prefer products that are unscented.

Garnier Sleek and Shine spray (with silicone) is a much better alternative that does prevent frizz and it's greasy.
Review for L'Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Treatment - 3 months, 3 weeks ago

I always use products like these immediately after showering to help prevent frizz and prime for use with leave-in conditioners, mousses, gels, etc. I find this similar to other silicone oils out on the market including those from Garnier, Suave Professionals, and Organix. This one is very similar and made my hair shiny and smooth with much less frizz than no product at all. I will probably purchase this in the future if it's on sale.
