Review for SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir - 2 weeks, 6 days ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
The first several times I used this product, I absolutely hated it. I used too much and my hair would get greasy. Now, I know better. The important this is to apply this to damp hair, really rubbing it into your palms evenly before even touching your hair. Apply to the bottoms and slowly work your way up. In regular "white" products, I typically use 10-20 pumps of serum because I have thick, porous, wavy hair. I only use 2-4 sprays MAXIMUM of this for my whole head. It's that effective. I helps define my waves/curls and makes them pretty and shiny. NO FRIZZ. This is a product that you really have to experiment with to get the best use so don't give up if you don't get good results the first time.

Review for OGX® Argan Oil Of Morocco Weightless Healing Dry Oil - 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
I've used other Organix products and I'm sad to report that this did not work for me. It's a greasy spray that did not absorb into my hair but rather left a greasy coating. It does contain silicones and other ingredients not approved for the curly girl method. Since my waves still got frizzy anyway, I will not purchase this in the future. I'm also not crazy about the smell of the product and prefer products that are unscented.

Garnier Sleek and Shine spray (with silicone) is a much better alternative that does prevent frizz and it's greasy.
Review for L'Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Treatment - 3 weeks, 1 day ago

I always use products like these immediately after showering to help prevent frizz and prime for use with leave-in conditioners, mousses, gels, etc. I find this similar to other silicone oils out on the market including those from Garnier, Suave Professionals, and Organix. This one is very similar and made my hair shiny and smooth with much less frizz than no product at all. I will probably purchase this in the future if it's on sale.

Review for Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub - 3 weeks, 1 day ago

Review for: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control, Power-Clear Scrub, 4.2 fl oz more...
This is a creamy formula that has a nice menthol tingle. However, it contains plastic beads that contaminate natural bodies of water and kill fish. It also still dries out my skin and has caused several breakouts. I wouldn't recommend for anyone with sensitive skin. BHA/salicylic acid is a good spot treatment but very harsh for everyday use in a facial wash! There are better acne control methods out there!

I had to buy 3 shades of this product to realize I'm in between shades 20 and 30. I'm very fair but this runs particularly light especially since it's a light tint. Since the formula is more like a moisturizer, I was hoping this would balance my oily skin. However, my skin is still just too greasy and I have to set this with powder. That leaves the finish a little cakey looking and defeats the purpose of using a moisturizing product.

I still use this when my skin is very dry and I'm doing errands. It helps cover any spots and blend them in. They're still visible to much calmer and less noticeable.

Review for The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 1 oz/ 30 mL - 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
This worked very well at treating ongoing acne and reducing inflammation. However, this was very drying on my sensitive skin. I have about half a bottle left and don't reach for it often. I prefer the Ascorbyl Glucoside vitamin c and Alpha Arbutnin from The Ordinary to balance my skin and face acne spots. They're just as effective and much less harsh.

Review for The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone - 3 weeks, 1 day ago

Review for: Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone more...
I was hoping I could use this as a makeup base and treat my skin at the same time but this most certainly doesn't work for me. The silicon is powder-y and very drying. I need to actually use a moisturizer underneath or else my skin will be totally stripped of moisture and very irritated. If you have oily skin, this could work for you but I'd still err on the side of caution and buy the Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% instead.

Review for The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% +HA 2% - 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
Other than some superficial skin smoothing, this wasn't miraculous for me. However, it wasn't so strong that it dried out my skin. I should probably be using this more often but am afraid because I use RX retinoids for my acne. Good buy to check out if you're just getting into acid and peeling.

Review for The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA - 3 weeks, 1 day ago

This has been a good serum to help fade acne marks and uneven tone. It's a little drying on the skin but not as harsh on my skin as the Niacinamide and Zinc serum. I've had a bottle of this for over 4 months and still haven't reached the half way point. A great buy that will last you a while.

Review for The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution - 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 5
I don't like the serum formula. When I want to use this only on a spot, this gets all over my skin and dries it out. I'd much prefer if it was a cream that you could pack on a spot. This gets everywhere. It is potent helps any acne but it's best for someone who suffers greatly and doesn't just get an occasional spot.
