Review for Maybelline Super Stay® Full Coverage 24h Foundation - 1 year, 2 months ago

I received this foundation in a recent Maybelline VoxBox and, to tell the truth, it's... pretty good. When it says full coverage, it really does mean full coverage. The shade I received was just a touch too light for me, but when I put it on, dang, my skin did not have that blotchy "I'm wearing the wrong foundation" look. Still, I highly recommend you choose the right shade for you, haha. The level of coverage does come at a price, though. Namely, you can definitely feel this foundation on your face. It is rather heavy, and upon closer inspection, can be quite cakey (though it doesn't emphasize lines like I feared it would). For people who are used to it, this probably won't bug them too much. However, as someone who primarily uses light to medium coverage BB/CC creams, this was a bit much for me. Of course, that is largely a matter of me wearing a product that is not suited to my regular needs, so take it with a grain of salt.

As for the "superstay" portion, I found that after a full day, the foundation did tend to break down. To be fair, it breaks down less than most other foundations do on my face. My skin is very textured and, at the moment, broken out and the foundation did not have a great time with that. Based on my experience, you shouldn't expect to put this foundation on at 8am and have it still be flawless without any touchups at midnight.

Overall, this is a pretty good foundation. It's neither amazing nor earth-shattering, but it's a decently priced full coverage product. If full coverage is very important to you and you're willing to put up with it feeling a bit heavy, then I highly recommend you try it out.

Review for Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Cleansing Foam - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
I've been using this cleansing foam for a little over a month now and I finally - finally! - feel fully equipped to write a review on it.

Put simply, I love this cleanser.

When I try a new cleanser, I rarely notice an immediate difference (unless it's a bad one, haha). With this, though, it was eye opening. In the past, I've primarily used Western cleansers without thinking about the pH. I'm pretty sure most have us have gone through that phase during puberty where you're breaking out badly and you're desperate to get rid of the acne, so you use the most intense cleanser you can get your hands on. The more it smells like alcohol and/or paint stripper and makes your skin feel completely toght, the better.

WELL, I know better now. Sulwhasoo shows with this cleanser that your skin can feel clean and soft post-cleanse, no tightness required. My first time getting out of the shower after using this Snowise EX Cleansing Foam was like an epiphany. Like, "Hey, my skin actually feels really good right now!" The low pH cleansing foam keeps your skin closer to its naturally slightly acidic state, contributing greatly to keeping your skin from becoming tight and keeping your moisture barrier intact.

After a month of use, not only has my acne settled, but my skin overall looks healthier, brighter, and happier.

Review for Olay Complete Lotion All Day Moisturizer With Spf 15 For Normal Skin - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
I feel no shame in admitting that amongst my products from Sulwhasoo, Lumene, Skin Food, The Face Shop, banila co, and more, my trusty Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer continues to be a permanent fixture. Yes, it might not be a thick formula. Yes, I know it smells kind of funny (i.e. the primary reason I took a star off). But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't still one of my favorite moisturizers.

I'm stuck in the eternal paradox where my skin is super dry but very prone to clogged pores and other acne. So, despite my desire to use a heavy moisturizer to soothe my desert of a face (which the occasional oasis - combination skin with oily patches FTW!!), in the past I've been frequently burned with breakouts when I tried to use one. This moisturizer though... it applies beautifully over my other products and soaks in easily, making my skin feel more hydrated than you'd expect based on how it feels. It's still not hydrating enough to be used solo, but I personally don't expect that from a moisturizer, especially on my skin. As a prelude to this mousturizer, I use a low pH cleanser, hydrating toner, essence, and sometimes a second essence/serum/emulsion.

So, if you have dry skin, I do not recommend you use this product on its own. If you're planning to use it in conjuction with a more extensive daily routine, however, then have at it!

For folks with oily skin, I still think you can use this product if you start off with fewer products beforehand. It's not a thick/heavy formula, so I imagine you'd be able to use it as well! :)

Review for Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++ - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
This sunscreen is an absolute holy grail for me! With a lot of other brands, the sunscreen leaves a gross "tacky" that takes a long time to go away (if it ever does). As a result, I hated putting on sunscreen for the longest time despite knowing that's it's a vital part of maintaining healthy skin.

This sunscreen however, makes me love putting sunscreen on! It really feels like I'm just applying a thin moisturizer. It soaks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling refreshed on top of the other steps in my skin care routine. My skin is combination - mostly dry with oily patches - and this stuff feels great on the dry parts without making the oily areas feel, well, oily.

I highly recommend this sunscreen to anyone who cares about their skin's health, rather they like putting sunscreen on or not. Obviously I can't 100% guarantee that it will match your skin as perfectly as it does mine, but I hope you'll at least give it a chance. At this time, I can't imagine using any other sunscreen regularly. I do still like to test other products out of curiosity, but so far nothing has stacked up to Bioré's AQUA Rich Watery Essence sunscreen.

Review for COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - 1 year, 5 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
I enjoy using this essence! I use it after my BHA toner and it works wonders in making sure that my skin is well hydrated. I have some pretty mean acne scars and over time this has helped to improve them significantly. The feel immediately after applying and patting in is a bit sticky, but after a little while it soaks in completely and leaves my skin soft and plump. There's no strong fragrance to it, either, so if fragrance ordinarily bothers you, this product could be a great option.

Review for Yogi Tea Green Tea Kombucha - 1 year, 5 months ago
You know, the first time I tried this tea, I hated it. I thought it was bland and had a weird aftertaste and bitterness that was incredible unappealing. I'd let the tea steep too long, but didn't realize it. When I unexpectedly ran out of my precious Numi Green Tea, I had only this one left and begrudgingly made it. To my surprise, when I tried it this time... the tea had a mild flavor, yes, but it was incredibly sweet without any added sweetener and, though I normally prefer stronger teas, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this delicate blend from Yogi. Moral of the story, making your tea properly is very important and these tea bags are amazing. I recommend them to anyone who enjoys mild, naturally sweet teas, but probably not to people who prefer very strong, flavorful ones.

Review for AriZona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey - 1 year, 5 months ago
This is my all time favorite green tea! Now, I will warn you that is not the healthiest version of green tea in the world. However, it just tastes so, so good. The ginseng and honey accents round out the taste of the tea perfectly. Sometimes, when I drink green tea, I find myself disappointed by the lack of complexity to the flavor. Arizona's is delicious, though!

Review for Snyder's-Of-Hanover All Natural Fat Free Pretzel Sticks - 1 year, 5 months ago
These weren't terrible, but somehow the lack of fat in the pretzels made the salt taste extremely overwhelming. I love salty pretzels, but these were a bit extreme, especially as we got towards the bottom of the bag. If you really, really like salt and want something low in fat, then go for it, but otherwise, I'd recommend staying away.

Review for SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash Off - 1 year, 5 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
This product is probably my favorite exfoliating mask. Enough so that despite still having a few more uses worth left in my regular size 3.53 oz jar, I ordered a double size 7.05 oz jar.
The mask has a pleasant, sweet scent. The only negative, really, is that it makes me a bit hungry. The scent isn't incredibly strong, nor is it floral, so anybody sensitive to those kinds of smells shouldn't have trouble using this mask.
The mask itself is thick enough with granules large enough that I can feel it putting it on, but not so much that it feels like an uncomfortable abrasion like some physical exfoliants. Some people may find the sticky texture off-putting, but it's not something that bothers me personally. If you've ever gotten a bunch of loose sugar on your hands while eating a sweet candy or baking, the sensation is a bit similar to that, with a thick gel filling up the rest of the space.
The most "difficult" part of using this mask is probably washing it off. The sugar tends to be a bit hard to remove entirely, and it especially likes to cling to my eyebrows if I get it in them. I think this is a bit of an inevitability for many physical exfoliants, though, and it really didn't detract from my experience much.
Now, for the most important part - how did my skin feel while using it and afterwards? While the mask is on, I've never really noticed it all that much aside from the stickiness. I don't feel any kind of "magical exfoliating magic" happening. Immediately after washing the mask off though, my skin feels so smooth, it's amazing. The mask doesn't dry out my skin at all and I don't end up with that uncomfortably scrubbed feeling you sometimes get with other masks. I've never had trouble with it breaking me out or anything, and my skin always feels so hydrated but firm the morning after I use it.
Overall, this is a great mask! I can't guarantee that everyone will have the same experience as me - people have different skin after all - but I can certify that I enjoy using it and that you should give it a shot if you ever have the opportunity.
