Self proclaimed shopaholic. My style: Feminine, Romantic, Girly, Traditional, Classic, Preppy. I love anything vintage or 50s style. I enjoy reading reviews before buying beauty products - because who likes ending up with a dud - but ultimately I like trying new products for myself! I like a good deal so trying to find HG products that are also inexpensive is the goal however I do often find myself treating myself to pricier options...
I was surprised at how much I liked this product. I bought it on a whim while on vacation to get some bounce back into my curls and try to keep away the frizzies. It smells phenomenal! It doesn't leave my hair feeling crunchy however I did find that the product built up after 2 days of use. Just for reference, I have naturally curly hair that I normally air dry overnight. Overall, for the price I really enjoyed this product!
So my hairdresser used this in my hair. She said that I should be using it (or another clarifying shampoo) once a month to get rid of any product buildup or mineral buildup (I have hard water) in my hair. It made my hair feel super clean, soft and brought bounce back to my curls (they were no longer weighed down by leftover product)! I also love the smell of it. I like that the smell isn't too strong nor does it linger to long after application.
I bought the shade Pure Coral in the satin matte finish and I absolutely love it! I have a fair complexion and it brightens up my whole face. I was skeptical because it was so inexpensive but I find the formula creamy, very pigmented, hydrating, comfortable and lasting. On top of that it doesn't have a bad chemical smell - it has a light scent that I actually quite enjoy. My only gripe with the product is the packaging. It often comes open in my purse and has drawn all over the inside a few times! No bueno. I just make sure to put it into a pocket on the inside of my purses now to avoid disaster. I think I may try a few more colours. I would repurchase and recommend this product! Great drugstore find.
I have a love/hate relationship with this palette. I love the Incandescent Light (middle shade). I use it everyday as a subtle highlight that is perfect for work. I feel like it makes me glow without being in your face sparkle - which I prefer. I often receive compliments on my complexion when I wear this and people ask what I am using. Apparently this shade is exclusive to this palette. And this is where my beef begins... I would totally buy just the Incandescent Light on its own. I find the Radiant Light (right hand colour) too orange for my fair skintone. So the price of CAN $70 is high for just the one highlight. I do like the Dim light (left shade) as a finishing powder although I can't decide whether it is too dark for me and whether it makes me look cakey. I guess it depends on the day!
I bought this to touch up my makeup at work when I look shiny or when redness starts to creep back into my skin. It always ends up making my skin look dry, flakey and cakey... It also has a strange smell. It isn't entirely unpleasant and I am willing to put up with odd scents if I like the product but I am not a fan of this product at all. I do not recommend buying this powder.
I love Sigma brushes. Price: I would say mid-range however the sets are a good value for your money, in my opinion. Quality: These are very soft brushes (with the exception of the pencil brush which I find very scratchy). They seem to be lasting me awhile. I bought them about a year ago and they have undergone washings. Though I do use brush cleaner and the Sigma Dry N Shape tower (which I also love BTW). I use a few of these brushes everyday. The F35 tapered highlighter for the perfect dusting of highlight to cheekbones, forehead, bridge of nose, cupid's bow and chin.E40 tapered blending to seamlessly blend eyeshadows. It is so soft and fluffy! E25 blending is probably my favourite of them all. I use it to apply shadow and blend. I am looking at buying another as backup. Why not 5 stars? Because I hardly ever use the E30 pencil - as I said before it is scratchy. And I like the F80 flat kabuki I just don't tend to reach for it very often... I feel I have other brushes that apply my foundation better. Overall, I love this brand and their value sets! I have recommended them to many of my friends and coworkers :)
I love this concealer. It covers EVERYTHING. I use it on my undereyes, my nose (it is so red... like Rudolph!), my chin and any little blemishes I want to hide. I find that it never creases and lasts through my workday (with the exception of my nose... I guess I touch it too much). It applies like a dream and I find the colour matches perfectly with my skintone - I am very fair. I also have very sensitive eyes, and this product does not irritate them. I do wish it weren't as expensive but I have tried other concealers and they just don't compare.
I am going to preface this review: I have naturally thick and curly eyelashes, so I don't find that they need much help. That being said, I have been using this since I started wearing makeup in my teens and I find that I always go back to it. I've tried other mascaras but they never measure up. Others tend to clump up and just end up looking messy but I've had that issue with Great Lash. The only time it gets clumpy is at the end of the bottle - that is when I know I need to buy a new bottle!
I was skeptical about putting an oil-based product on my skin, but it lathers well and cuts right through my makeup - even waterproof mascara! It leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight and moisturized without feeling greasy. I love the light scent and the fact that it doesn't linger. My boyfriend is very sensitive to fragrance and he has never complained about this one - that's how I know it is good! I have trouble finding makeup remover that doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes but I don't have to worry about that with this product. It never stings my eyes. I have repurchased this product and would recommend it to anyone with combination to dry skin.
