Review for Shampoo 50/50 Balanced, 2 oz, Giovanni Cosmetics - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
This is quite a lovely shampoo that I used before I color treated my hair. I have unique hair that is very fine yet heavy, as well as oily at the scalp yet dry at the ends. This shampoo is true to its name and gave me the perfect balance of hydration and cleansing. It never built up over time, and it smelled like citrus and herbs. The ingredients were great, and its sulfate-free formula ensured it wouldn’t strip my scalp entirely.

Review for: 8.5 OZ more...
This is hands down the best shampoo for color-treated hair I have ever used. While many shampoos claim to be “color safe” due to their sulfate-free formulas, Pureology takes this to the next level. They are not only “safe” for color-treated hair, but also contain an advanced Anti-Fade complex to help lock in color and prevent it from slipping down the strands. As someone with red hair, this is a game-changer. I find that I only need to wash my hair once a week with this shampoo, and its hydrating and protecting effects last all through that time. One of my favorite things about this shampoo that really takes it over the edge for me is its UVA/UVB protection. Anyone with color-treated hair knows how much color the sun sucks from your strands, and it’s not always easy to find good hair products with sun protection, so having it as a built-in feature of Pureology’s shampoo is a huge deal. Now I can soak up the sun during the summer without worry! I can’t see myself going back to other shampoos at this time, even though the price on this is rather steep.

Review for SheaMoisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Shampoo - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I find Shea Moisture products to be hit or miss for me, but this product was definitely a win before I color-treated my hair. I have naturally fine and straight hair that gets oily quickly, yet can experience breakage due to its fragile nature. This shampoo and conditioner duo fortified my hair without completely stripping it of its natural oils. This did give me somewhat of a “squeaky clean” feeling, however, so someone with curly or very dry hair may turn into a tangled mess with this shampoo. I also would not recommend this for color-treated hair. But the strengthening formula was light enough for my scalp before I added color to my strands. With that said, due to the fine nature of my hair, I found that this did build up with continued use. I needed some kind of clarifying shampoo to remove the gunk this shampoo left behind.

The formula of this shampoo is so hydrating and nourishing to the hair. Even though it’s sulfate- and silicone-free, I was hesitant at first to use it on my color-treated hair. I was pleasantly surprised that this left my fine hair soft, hydrated, bouncy, and smooth without stripping the red color from my hair. The scent of this shampoo is medicinal, but still herbal and not too overpowering. The ingredients are gorgeous, with so many nourishing plant oils to help protect and add shine to the hair. The price point is a bit expensive for what it is, but I would definitely say it’s worth it.

The way this highlighter catches the light is INSANE. I have a light neutral-to-warm skin tone, and this highlighter complements my complexion beautifully. It can definitely be built up to be blinding, but it provides the most buttery smooth, silky, and natural glow even with just minimal application. There is also no glitter or chunkiness to this formula at all when it’s on the skin. I can always count on this highlight to stay beaming all day. It has quickly become a HG for me, and a highlighter that I reach for almost daily now.

Review for: Light Plus more...
I have literally been using this powder since its first launch, and over the years, I have never veered from it. I use other setting powders occasionally, of course, but this has always been a constant in my collection. I use it every day to give a light finish to my foundation, or on its own for a subtle even coverage. Light Plus has always been a perfect match for my skin tone, and the formula is smooth, buttery, and never cakey. A single pan also lasts a surprisingly long time. This is for sure my ride or die powder.

Review for URBAN DECAY All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray - 3 months, 2 weeks ago

I’m so conflicted on this spray! On the one hand, it works so well. Unlike most setting sprays that simply remove the powdery residue on the skin, this is more of a finishing spray that truly locks makeup into place like a shellac. Your makeup will not budge for hours when you use this. The only reason I can’t give it five stars is due to the use of denatured alcohol as the primary ingredient. I wish so much that more companies such as Urban Decay and Skindinavia could create a setting spray like the COVER FX High Performance Setting Spray that does not contain denatured alcohol but still acts as an effective finishing spray.

Review for: Blacktrack more...
This was the first gel eyeliner I ever used back when I was 15 years old, and for a long time, it was the only eyeliner I used period. I could always count on it to create a bold wing with ease. As many others have noted, however, the pot dries out very quickly. It can be briefly revived with a few eyedrops, but application becomes more and more difficult well before the pot runs out. Furthermore, I was always left wanting a bolder, blacker line. Blacktrack’s subtle shimmer always made it come off as more of a dark grey than a true black. When I found Maybelline Eyestudio® Lasting Drama® Gel Eyeliner for a fraction of the cost and with a much bolder black color, I sadly parted ways with my MAC Fluidline.

Review for: Intense Black (jet black) more...
This eye pen was so disappointing. It’s a beautiful formula that initially applies like a dream! It easily creates a precise, sharp, dramatic wing, or can be applied to the top tightline for a more subtle look. And true to its name, the formula really does last all day. It doesn’t budge at all and fades very little even after hours of wear. ....I just wish I was able to use this more than a few times before the pen dried out. I tried every trick in the book to bring life back into the pen after it dried out and became unusable, but the quality of the product started to degrade the more I tried to fix it. I’ve found pens on the market such as the Clinique Pretty Easy™ Liquid Eyelining Pen that take forever to even come close to drying out, so I sadly will not be repurchasing this eye pen from Stila in the future.
