I have finally collected enough thoughts on this foundation, after wearing it a solid 4 days (24/7). Just for reference and so you do not waste your time reading, I have crazy combination skin with a hell of an oily t-zone and dry patches, my skin has large pores that could swallow you whole, some blemishes, scarring, my skin is dull like Kylie Jenner and medically treated (also like Kylie Jenner's lips)(hellz yeah), so my "holy grail" foundations are clinique matte foundation, tartes bb/primer (whatever they were trying to do there), and actually the new too faced peaches and cream matte foundation (I am surprised too), so if those work this might be worth your read. So I had to try this foundation with a billion to one primers, smashbox, benefit, makeup forever, elf, and yes even Puer hydrating primer (whatever that brand is). Given, I did not use it with the Queen's new primer but I just did not have a lot of luck with this foundation and my holy grail primers, which makes me blame the foundation. I had the most success with a hydrating primer, which also sucked because I am oily af. Anyway, I wanted to LOVE this foundation so so badly and maybe I set the bar too high. Its not awful, at 34$ pretty fair. The pros: color range and match is astonishing, the foundation looks good on camera ( but just not in person if that makes sense). It feels like a second skin forrealz. Your blush, highlighter and bronzer will last forever and ever with this foundation, which is so cool. Now, the cons: This stuff stuck to all the bad dry patches, like holy cow (I have a great skin care routine and have v clear skin after years) and this was just awful. It is NOT a full coverage foundation, your blemishes WILL show. Even worse was that it like sunk into my fine lines and I am literally 22, I am not suppose to have fine lines yet. I had the best luck with a wet beauty blender to even it out but it feels like it sinks into some spots very quickly. I could not for the life of me use a brush, I used my f80 and my it cosmetics airbrush and it was awful, wouldn't blend at all and dried everything out. I also look like sick/really do look like I am wearing make-up with this foundation and I actually prefer an all natural/flawless look. On camera I look airbrushed though (well only with the right lighting I should say), which is great, so I guess if you just need something to snapchat with, this is the foundation for you. I really can't say I hate it but it is really tricky to try to figure out if the pros outweigh the cons. Solid three stars.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation Favorite foundation all 2017. When I found out Rihanna was coming out with an entire cosmetic line I was absolutely shook I was all here for it just because its Rihanna. Now lets talk about this foundation, the inclusivity is everything the fact that there is a shade for everyone was defiantly one of the reason I just had too because being a WOC its always a struggle sometimes to find my shade I think a lot of brand do overlook us WOC when it comes to putting our shades out there and we're in 2018 we should not have to tell brands about being inclusive, Even tho they do know about our existence they still fail to include our shades in their line, So Fenty coming with 40 shades was definitely a game changer for literally every skin tone all types of undertone.

Now when it comes to the Foundation wear itself, I have a combination to oily skin type I'm not gonna lie its one of my favorite foundation the coverage is more light to medium and I'm not really mad at it cause looking at it I don't think it was meant to be a full coverage foundation Rihanna always rocking that natural look, you can built it up if you want to but in my opinion it doesn't look good when you packed the whole damn bottle on. Second this foundation dries very fast so you do have to work fast or used a damped beauty blender to get the best result.

My first time wearing this foundation I love it it look beautiful natural went to my friend house she could barely tell, fast forward to the end of the day I absolutely look like I took an oil bath I know everyone tend to get oily throughout their day but wearing this foundation without setting it doesn't actually help. The formula is great, the coverage I get is great I don't have a problem with it but if you do have oily skin and you want this foundation I would recommend you set your face with a setting powder or even use the blotting sheets she also carry from her line.

I would definitely recommend this foundation.

I love this freaking foundation!!!!! I’d heard such a great buzz about it after it’s launch and just had to try it. Let’s get down to it...

•shade range is INSANE. Fenty officially raises the bar and made other brands go back and relaunch their foundations and concealers in more shades because of the range Fenty had from jump street!!!
•the packaging is sleek, chic and beautiful.
•it has good coverage and is buildable and blends out smoothly.
• feels light on the skin
• it’s by Rhianna...and who the eff doesn’t just love her? You know she put her heart and soul into developing the entire line so you know that it’s gonna be GOOD.

•price. It’s not THAT expensive..most higher end foundations can go from $40-$85..so $34 isn’t that bad but it’s not “affordable” either.
•it’s not that good for dry skin...although, I have dry skin in areas..when I use my Fenty 130, I exfoliate a lil extra before hand, and make sure to MOISTURIZE!!!! Also using a silicone or moisturizing primer helps a lot too...
•doesn’t seem to wear ALL day. Like I put it on at 10am...by 4pm I could use a real retouch.
•OXIDATION. I was color matched in Sephora (Obvi I went there bare faced with the mission of being matched and buying a foundation) and after application it looked much more yellow then it does in bottle and at first pump.

Fenty as a whole is a wonderful brand and make some amazing products...and I love the foundation. I was hoping it would be my holy grail cause that is what I was looking for when I bought it...but alas I am still on the hunt. The struggle is real! However, the foundation is worth the hype and I think just the shade range alone makes this a top contender. I'm looking for something a little more lightweight than my estée-lauder-double-wear-stay-in-place-foundation but something that will stay all day and not transfer like the DW. I think the fenty smells a bit odd, like baby doll plastic body parts or something.. alot of people love it but it reminds me of something weird and the smell stays all day. But that aside, the coverage is what I am looking for. Covers up my uneven discoloration, and still let's my freckles peek through. The consistency is quite runny and I do have to use quite a bit of product to cover my face. I am not quite sure this is my exact color, maybe I'll get a sample of 150 or 190, something neutral, because even though I have a very yellow undertone, this is quite yellow, and oxidised slightly orange? Idk in pictures it's seriously undetectable but outside in natural light, in person, I feel like my forehead looks a bit orangey. I love the light feel to it, but throughout the day it clings to dry areas pretty bad, like on my chin, where no other foundations have ever clung to before. And settled into fine lines on the tip of my nose. Idk maybe I was extra dehydrated... Because having fine lines on the tip of my nose is crazy.. lol I'm only 26. Haha. But it didn't cake in my nose crease, or settle in my smile line which was nice. Definatley didn't transfer and lasted the whole day! I'm to keep testing it out. The second time I used it I put a different primer (not the fenty) on my tzone.. my go to smashbox and it didn't make my nose wrinkle.. but still clung to drier areas pretty bad. Not sure if its what I'm looking for but definitely close!

So after sooooo much fanfare, I finally decided to jump on the Fenty wagon and purchase my very own Fenty Foundation, shade 370 to be exact. And I'll say this much, when they say this foundation is a matte, they didnt lie! I have a very VERY greasy not oily t-zone that is so greasy blot papers and finishing powder doesn't nothing for me. Yet the Fenty Foundation alone helped to curtail the oil breakthrough! Like from the time I applied it to the time I removed it, there was NO oil breakthrough. I didn't have to use much at all and applied it using a foundation brush although, it appeared to dry before I could thoroughly apply and blend it properly. It has some serious staying power. Now on to the shade, I am originally a Mac NC45 Girl and got swatched in Sephora and my match was determined to be #370. My issue with this is that, upon looking online for other reviews and tips on using this product, I found women and men of many different skin tones that also claimed to be shade #370 such as myself. In terms of the look on my skin, I can say that it blends well with my neck which is what you should want is your face to match your neck, yet I can't help but feel a bit anxious given the fact that this shade seems to be so universal that many skin tones can fit the same shade..... I dont know....... I think my next purchase I will grab a 370 and the one shade after it just to bring a tad bit more color onto my skin when I apply it.

Let me preface this by saying, this foundation did not work as a standalone product for me whatsoever. I would rather wear no foundation than wear this at this point in the year. Here I go again with my unpopular opinions... I have combo/oily skin, so naturally I was super excited to try out this foundation, since it's water based with a matte finish. I've got a lot of ground to cover here, so we'll just start with the negatives first:

This foundation upon application is difficult for me  to build up without it "picking up" and starting to get patchy, I have tried using different brushes, sponges, you name it and nothing works. To me, this is definitely medium coverage.  I have also tried this foundation with many different serums, moisturizers, primers, and even the Fenty primer, but my skin always looks so dry and textured when I wear this.  I'm almost 25 and lean more towards the oily side, so I can't imagine how this must work for drier or more mature skin types if this happens to me.  Lastly, this just does not stay on my skin more than a few hours and I don't tend to have major issues with wear.

Onto the positives:

the shade range is amazing! Thank you, RiRi for making a brand for everyone! Shade 100 is a great match for me and I absolutely love the undertone, it is perfect for me. I have also found that this is pretty decent to mix with other foundations. Fenty + Wet N Wild photo focus foundation make an amazing combination, which is odd considering I don't like either of those foundations as standalone products, go figure!

All in all, I realize that I might just have issues with this because of my skin type. It just doesn't work for me and I wanted to give this an honest and fair review for anyone else who might have a similar skin type.

Right when this product was released, I knew I had to purchase it and try for myself. Rihanna did a beautiful job designing the bottle. Sleek, stylish, and very fashion-forward. Best part? It already comes with a pump! Not only that but the initial release came out with 40 shades so you know there are shades for practically everyone. The foundation itself is indeed very “soft matte” as the name implies. For me, it applies best with a beauty sponge. High coverage while still looking close to skin. Unfortunately, it goes downhill from here. This foundation wears horribly on me! Most foundations look better on me after an hour or two of wear, but this product seems to separate from my skin and accentuate the texture of my face. It transfers so, so bad. I thought maybe the culprit could be my primer or skincare... but after switching around products, it just seems that the FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation doesn’t work for me. The initial application is great but it breaks down horribly on my face which breaks my heart. It’s a shame as I fully support Riri, the brand, and its inclusiveness. Darn. For reference, I am MAC NC40 and wear shade 300, combination skin type.

I’m just going to cut to the chase with this review, because I know I don’t enjoy reading super lengthy ones.

Pros: Nice packaging. Feels heavy and expensive. IMPRESSIVE shade range. Long-lasting. Watery, weightless formula; doesn’t get cakey.

Cons: Coverage is disappointing. A lot of people said it was a buildable medium-full coverage, but I’d say it’s a pretty solid medium coverage. I have acne, and I’m always looking for a foundation that’s going to conceal my spots... but this foundation didn’t do the trick. Also, this foundation clung to EVERY dry patch.
In fact, it revealed dry patches I didn’t even know were there. When they say this foundation is a matte finish, they do mean MATTE. You don’t even have to set this one with powder. Oh, and blend it in right away! It sets quickly.

I have acne-prone, combination skin, basically I get random dry patches, yet my skin is consistently oily around the T-zone area. When I seen the shade range, I knew I HAD to have this foundation, no matter the price. I’m extremely pale, and I’ve always struggled with finding a shade that doesn’t eventually turn me Trump orange. You don’t have to worry about finding your perfect shade with this line; you WILL find it.

Final thoughts....
I can’t recommend this foundation. I REALLY wanted to love it, and I admire how inclusive the shade range is. This is the first I’ve purchased a foundation that was way too light for me, which is why I decided to give it three stars regardless. It just wasn’t what I was looking for. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Buckle up for the long review: I have sensitive combination skin that progressively gets noticeably oily/flaky in areas throughout the day. I also touch my face & sneeze A LOT (thanks allergies) during the day so I’m always deep into the tissues & feel like I’m just rubbing off my makeup. My skin has annoyingly yellow undertones in some areas and then random pink undertoned areas that all never seem to match right with drug store/other brand foundations/B.B. & C.C. Creams etc. And last but not least I have some trouble acne spots that can be difficult to cover...I’m talking like it’s either angry red or has been dying slowly and it doing that awkward will it scab over or is it just going to do this weird skin flake thing (GROSS! Amirite?!).

I’ve heard/read/seen all the hype about this foundation. Lemme tell you I was skeptical. So I went to Sephora and they hooked me up with a sample after matching me. Naturally my shade (140) was out but I had my sample and I went on my way. I’ve been using this for 2 weeks now and I have some feelings.

I f******* love this foundation. It is a blessing. IT ACTUALLY MATCHES MY SKINTONE FLAWLESSLY. Ok? I don’t even need to blend it down my neck it is THAT perfect. It doesn’t make me look orange and I am so grateful for that. My one complaint is that it dries quickly but it legit dries to an almost powdery finish and it is a beautiful sight. I “contour” (idk how to contour but I have a kit and I try my hardest) with a powder so it works great with this. My blush and highlight are also powder and lemme tell you...after 9 hours of working & commuting I get home and it’s allllll still right where I put it on in the morning. The stay power is incredible. What about my progressive oily spots? They don’t exist anymore...those shine spots don’t gradually appear throughout the day...my skin stays looking like a beautiful matte piece of art. Also those troubled acne areas? They’re covered, they stay covered, & the weird flaky ones are less noticeable for sure.

I first apply the Fenty primer, then I apply my 140 with a foundation brush, and thennnn I buff/blend it in with my beauty blender. I don’t have to use setting spray or powder with this it just stays and slays. Since we’re all beautiful & unique here’s my advice:: head to Sephora, get a few swatches on your cheek/neck (wherever they put it on you to match it) & walk around for a bit because it does oxidize & slighty change color. ((When I first applied it completely my initial thought was “NO NO NO THIS IS NOT IT” but then it transformed.)) Then check which swatch you think looks best & get yourself a sample to make sure you like it! A little bit goes a loooong way. My sample lasted over a week but halfway through I went on the fenty website and ordered it. I highly highly recommend giving this a shot!

I am a stickler for foundation, I do not think a look is complete without the right foundation. I have tried endless foundations (Marc jacobs, Napoleon Perdis, makeup forever, Bobbi brown, Mac, L’Oréal, you name it... I’ve probably tried it) surprisingly my go to foundations lately have been Marc jacobs marvelous mousse ($55) and Anastasia’s stick foundation. Both are great, excellent buildable coverage, which is exactly what I was looking for with this foundation. I’ve heard and seen a lot of great things about this stuff so i had high hopes to begin with and let me tell you, I was not let down. First of all I have dry/normal skin that gets a bit oily in my t zone occasionally. I have very light skin with yellow and red undertones and I found 140 to match me best. I did purchase the primer because i do generally believe it was made to accent the foundation and it does a beautiful job! I use argain/vitamin e oil drops on my face first, then apply the primer, then apply the foundation using a beauty blender. I apply one section at a time, because it does dry fairly quickly. As far as patchiness people might be experiencing, I found that the foundation did get patchy if I applied it to my dry face (no primer, oil) but I was able to blend it out evenly and it looked just as nice just a little more time consuming. Overall, I’m in LOVE with this foundation. I think rih did an amazing job. I even fell asleep with this stuff on my face, and was pleasantly surprised to find my face was still looking good when I woke up. It sits on my skin beautifully, and I really believe the primer makes a huge difference and is worth the buy to get the full effect! **ALSO- I am pregnant and break outs are something I’ve never had to deal with all my life and now my face is always breaking out. Not just a little but a lot, and I love the way this foundation takes care of those imperfections and it does not feel like I’ve caked makeup on my face in any way. Almost feels powdery.**
